Winged Migration {MyDaily}
Feb 27th 2011 12:58PM Each full-sized Canadian goose, given the right feeding conditions, can leave one to two pounds worth of deposits daily. If a school has one hundred geese strolling around, the mind boggles at the math and the clean-up.
The Quintanas, Week 3: The Food (and Candy) Confessional {ParentDish}
Oct 30th 2010 9:30AM I was "forced" into a healthier eating lifestyle - I discovered I was
getting migraines from a) certain food preservatives mainly nitrates
and edta (which are found in many canned, processed and frozen goods),
and b) from pickled and fermented goods such as cottage and specialty
cheeses, spirits, wine, beer, etc. So I now shop the perimeter of the
supermarket which is where I find the freshest goods - fruits, veg's,
meats/chicken/fish, grains, milk products, etc. There were unexpected
results from my little experiment. Not only have the migraines been
significantly reduced in the last year, but my cholesterol has gone
down from 232 to 192 and my weight went from 133lb to 123lb and I've
kept it off - an unbelievable feat at my age (I'm 57).
I will probably have to live this way for the rest of my life. Extra
things such as reading labels, not going out to dinner as much and
asking friends if I can bring my own dinner to their house are part of
my lifestyle now, but if it prevents migraines and makes me a person
that can function on a normal level then I will do it.

Prom Night 2009: Jim Crow Style {Blackvoices Main}
May 27th 2009 8:25AM It never fails to astound me how an article regarding ignorant parents, a feeble school system and bewildered children can spark such world-wide hatred amongst comment makers. Why does this have to be anything but a one-sided childhood up-bringing of the parents, a small-town educational system that apparently sits on the economic fence and children who are simply too young and ignorant of what they can and can't do. (The perpetuality of the problem will exist, by the way, if the children choose to adopt the same tone as their parents in later years when they have children, presuming they stay in their hometown.) This prom challenge is all about ignorance on all sides, and I only wonder that it does not spill into other areas in their small town.
Airport woes from New York Magazine {Gadling}
Nov 10th 2007 6:11AM I had to fly from JFK to Sydney four days after 9/11 to take care of my mother - as you can imagine, that was an ordeal! Passengers cooperated fully because they were frightened. When I arrived back just one month later, I stood in no less than five checkpoint lines with fellow passengers to board my plane, and it was like the World Trade Center incident had never happened. I heard impatience, anger and frustration, but no fear. I have a great respect for the day I flew out of JFK, and I will always wait patiently, no matter what caused the delay.
iPhone Bill {AOL Video Blog}
Aug 19th 2007 8:07AM type in the letters "revver" (shown at the lower right of the video screen) and go to their internet site to read about their web advertising company - so, yes, folks, this is an ad, and every time you play the video, someone is making a few pennies.
Andre Agassi's Home, Estate of the Day {Luxist}
Sep 22nd 2006 6:03AM I'll bet the lighting bill alone for the year comes to my salary! Did you see all the recessed lighting fixtures? But if you're willing to fork over $21mil, energy bills are not a pivotal factor in buying a house. And, yes, I agree with one of the previous comments, the house does look "staged", but if it helps to sell, go ahead and do it. Well, good luck and good health to Agassi - he knew his calling as a young man, made his fortune and good decisions about his future and now can raise his family in comfort.
