Mar 1st 2011 12:35AM Yes you can stay clean&sober without AA. Most who do this end up kind of bitter,negative,cynical in their general view of the World. AA/NA isn't just about not drinking or drugging. It is also about reducing self obsession and self centeredness.
Unfortunately, Charlie is correct about the 5% thing. But that is 5% for every time a person enters a meeting and says they would like to be clean&sober. People willing to make several serious attempts at quitting have a much higher chance of success. Very similar to quitting smoking.
