Gadling gear review - Powermat portable wireless charger {Gadling}

Dec 8th 2009 8:23PM Yeah, this article really doesn't make its usefulness or desirability at all clear. Instead of my iPhone and DS cords that take up no space and cost nothing, I'd have to:
1. Buy the mat AND power cases, which are exorbitantly expensive, especially considering that the alternative is free.
2. Pack this thick mat and accessories in the carry-on that is all I ever take.
3. Still have to find an outlet and bring adapters, if applicable.
4. Still pack a power cord for any device for which I don't have the case.

If the mat was solar-powered or could run off a lamp or by dancing an Irish reel on it instead of plugging it in, then I could get behind it if at least one power case came for free ($40? Give me a break). As it is this is just a novelty geek gift for someone who habitually way overspends on useless but pretty toys.
