New York City Doormen Threaten Strike {Rented Spaces}

Mar 20th 2010 5:08AM I am so tired of strikes and the perceived
threat of them wherein workers hold innocent New Yorkers over a proverbial barrel. As far as
doormen and porters go, my building has an
excellent staff and these men are well paid,
well taken care of, and make a bundle in Christmas and other tips. Certainly they are entitled to a cost of living increase but holding apartment dwellers hostage yet once again is just not a
good thing for either them or building staff and
serves only to bring about bitterness and resentment. As usual, unions are being greedy
at the expense of common sense most particularly in these days of a very repressed economy. This is not the year for a doormen-porter strike in
NYC, just one more thing that jeopardises the
well-being of all our citizenry.

The international top five crappy pizzas {Gadling}

Nov 21st 2009 11:37PM For whatever it's worth, virtually every major city in China
has multiple PIZZA HUT restaurants and their pizzas are
quite decent, sometimes downright delicious! If you find
yourself in China craving a pizza you won't go wrong by
dining at a Pizza Hut! I have done it many times.

Burping and slurping: All the stuff you can do in China that you can't do back home {Gadling}

Nov 20th 2009 4:22AM I live in China 7-8 months of each year and while I do
see people spitting on occasion NEVER have I seen
gobs of spit on a sidewalk. I should mention that I
likewise have not been a witness people cleaning
their ears in public save but one time in a small city
square where a professional ear-cleaner had set
up shop. Sure, the Chinese belch but so do people
everywhere, it is a natural human response to eating
and while in the west we try to be more discreet about
belching it's pretty impossible to totally stifle its sound.
