Gadling reviews the new Carnival Dream cruise ship {Gadling}

Nov 18th 2009 7:01PM My husband and I did the 16-day transatlantic cruise from Italy to New York, October 27-November 12. The embarcation was the smoothest of any cruise of the 20 we have gone on. The food was pretty good. The pasta bar was the best food, because you could order whatever pasta you wanted and then whether you wanted meat sauce, mushrooms, etc they made it to order--it came hot. The deli sandwiches in the deli were great as was the pizza from the pizza bar. All the waterslides were in operation--you should have seen people 75 yrs old using them. The younger people will love them. The Steakhouse Restaurant was awesome. We had the lunch for $10 extra each--we took pictures of the food--it was just too pretty to eat. Our tablemates tried the Steakhouse Restaurant at least 3 times for dinner--they raved about the food. Disembarking in New York was quick. They still have some kinks to work out--like the library was tiny for 16 days on a ship, and the area for personal care products in the duty free shop was miniscule--they need to have a lot larger area when they have 3,500 guests on a ship. All in all it was an amazing trip and the Carnival Dream will be a hit in the Carribean and young people will love this ship.
