Pawn Mount Rushmore? Petition Calls for Mountain to Be Sold to Cover National Debt {AOL Real Estate}
Jan 23rd 2013 11:28AM I don't know so much about Mount Rushmore, but I'm quite sure the Federal government owns plenty of property---much of which may even be unused---which could be sold.
Redditor Beth Robinson Posts Security Camera Video of Robbery at Her Home {AOL Real Estate}
Jan 3rd 2013 12:50PM The story reports that one poster said "What in my house is worth someone's life? ... Guns kill people and possessions aren't worth it" and I somewhat agree with that. So, in the spirit of that poster's comment, I posted several small signs on the windows of my house: "There is nothing in this house that is worth your life."
A Message From the AOL.com Team {Portalblog}
Dec 21st 2012 10:06AM The quickest and most efficient way to stop these killings is for someone present to positively and quickly kill the would-be assailant, whether with a firearm, a knife or any other handy object. However, the quickest and most efficient way to dispatch the criminal is with a firearm. As Robert Heinlein once put it: "An armed society is a polite society."
Steins, New Mexico: The Ultimate American Ghost Town {Gadling}
Aug 2nd 2012 11:00AM In traveling 2-4 times per year between California and New Mexico, I've often wondered about Steins and what kinds of photos I might be able to take one day when I have more time to stop. Now that I'm living in New Mexico and retired, I have some more impetus to get off my duff and do some of those things I've talked about doing. Thanks for a great article!
Advice From America's 'Top Real Estate Photographer' {AOL Real Estate}

Advice From America's 'Top Real Estate Photographer' {AOL Real Estate}
Jan 9th 2012 12:10AM How fortuitous! I'm retiring next year and thinking about doing some real estate photography to supplement my income! A lot of the RE photos I've seen in my "retirement area" are unfocussed, poorly illuminated and composed and makes me wonder how these homes have ever been shown, let alone sold! I've been shooting since barely a teen, have won many contests, been paid for shooting everything from models' portfolios and weddings to automobiles and landscapes. I love every aspect of photography, every type of photography. Seems like I might make a serious go at establishing a new career in New Mexico after I'm finished with los Angeles!
The Playboy jet: How Hugh Hefner traveled in style {Gadling}
Mar 2nd 2011 11:54PM Gia, I mentioned how well Playboy models are paid to counter the notion that they are "exploited." And as for my daughter, well, assuming that (a) she is an adult and (b) appears in the magazine voluntarily, I guess I would not have anything to say about that whatsoever. In my view, if what you want to do is peaceful and honest and voluntary, then "it ain't nobody's business but your own."
Furthermore, if Playboy is "porn" (as you claim), then so is the aforementioned Venus de Milo and so is the nude Kate Winslet in "Titanic" or, for that matter, ANY movie which shows or even suggests nudity or sexual situations.
The Supreme Court has already ruled on what is and is not pornography. While I may not fully agree with their pronouncements, the depiction of sexuality go back much farther than the founding of this country. Nude Olympics, anyone? And please don't forget the Kama Sutra! :)
The Playboy jet: How Hugh Hefner traveled in style {Gadling}
Mar 1st 2011 3:21PM Thank you for your personal comment, Gia. I appreciate the vituperation. I also appreciate the nude female form whether it is Barbi Benton or Venus de Milo. I suppose Alexandros of Antioch was a dirty old man, too.

Mar 1st 2011 2:14PM Izzy, I also had a club key. Very classy place to dine. Great food, great service and not at all that expensive. Remember that salad bar? It must have been 30 feet long!
The Playboy jet: How Hugh Hefner traveled in style {Gadling}
Mar 1st 2011 2:00PM A few years ago I was fortunate enough to attend a private screening of an A&E documentary at the Playboy Mansion. I was also fortunate enough to speak directly to Hugh Hefner for several minutes. I found him to be a genuinely nice person and I learned that if one is NOT a nice person, one doesn't work at the Mansion for very long. Later, I asked my nephew (who was my host) if that was just an act and he assured me that that's the way Hef is with everyone.
Protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, Hugh Hefner does not "exploit" women. He celebrates womankind and worships feminity. And they get paid very handsomely indeed.
Additionally, his "Playboy Philosophy" which was published in several parts in the late 1960's are indeed words to live by. Eseentially, its message amounts to: "Live well, have fun, harm no one."
I count myself lucky to have met and dined with the man.
