The Kimchi-ite: A 1000-Year-Old Temple In The Middle Of Seoul {Gadling}

Feb 6th 2013 2:32AM I lived in Seoul for years and never saw this. It looks beautiful. I'm writing a novel set in Seoul, and I wish I could use this as a backdrop. Well, it is fiction, I guess I could ... but I prefer to write about places I've been. Obviously it's time to go back.

McLean Robbins' Five Favorite Spa Trends of 2010 {Luxist}

Dec 26th 2010 9:21AM Great spa trends - except I'm not too thrilled about the demise of the mega spa. The bigger the spa, the more mega perks it usually has. I'm all about the salt water pools, whirlpools and saunas - and I'm willing to sacrifice an intimate atmosphere to get it. Maybe there will be a new trend in 2012 toward small spas with big facilities, or big spas that maintain an intimate feel. Here's hoping ... have a great new spa year everyone!

Free press travel: necessary ... and certainly not an evil {Gadling}

Oct 26th 2009 8:21PM We can't write about something if we can't afford to go there. Press trips might not be the perfect solution but at least the resulting article is more authentic than a piece researched entirely on the web. Even if someone paid our way, we're still out there talking to people, tasting the food and checking out the scene. For my own list of reasons why free travel doesn't destroy the integrity of a travel writer, at least in most cases, visit my blog at http://www.wanderingcarol.wordpress.com

Ethics takes a holiday: Newsweek, New York Times writers in swag orgy {Daily Finance}

Oct 23rd 2009 7:36PM We can't afford to travel on our own, and we're accused of having no integrity if we take subsidized trips. Really, travel writers can't win. Except that we have the best job in the world and I can handle getting no respect for that. Yes, there is pressure to write great things when you're on a press junket. Do you bow to that pressure? It's not necessary, if you ask me - I've written a list of reasons why it's not an issue on my own blog. http://www.wanderingcarol.wordpress.com.
