Oct 23rd 2009 10:01AM Unfortunately (because this is an airfare discussion), I think the answer is passenger rail. It worked, and it worked well, and it still works well in some places (like, all over Europe). High-speed passenger rail can deal with many of these issues and would be a better solution to the less-than-1000-mile (or more) trips than driving in your personal vehicle.
