Big in Japan: Eating zero calorie jelly keeps Japanese women skinny {Gadling}
Oct 23rd 2009 1:20AM I'm an American whose been living in Osaka for two years and have always wondered what was up with those calorie free jellies all over the place. Last night my husband and I finally decided to try one, just to see what it tasted like (we tried a peach one). I expected it to have a very artificial flavor, and I'm not a big jello fan to begin with, but it was actually pretty delicious! I can definitely see how some people might abuse the stuff, but I also don't think it would hurt if a person was trying to watch their calories and wanted to use one replace a late night snack craving or something. It does fill up your tummy and take the edge off hunger. It never upset my stomach or anything either, which I was worried about, so overall I was impressed.
