Delta Air Lines charges returning soldiers for checked bags {Gadling}
Jun 8th 2011 6:47AM While I understand everyone wants free bags for the troops coming home how about the people who have to handle those bags after they are checked? We are talking huge military bags the big duffle bags and so on. I am a early retiree from Delta, early because I have had numerous back issues including 5 surgeries! I am no longer able to perform in any work area at Delta. It costs money when an employee is out due to injury plus the fact thier are never enough employees at a given time due to cost cutting measures the airline had to take with its workers. I am talking benifits taken away, holidays that use to be paid when we are away from our famlies that are not anymore. ON the other hand did that solider tell you he got first class on a flight ever? We put them in first class every chance we got because of the sacrifice they made to our country. We had passengers willing to give up seats also. If it was offered in the past great. But like with anything people tend to take advantage like the non active vs the active, yes there is a difference.

Five Things Airlines Don't Want You to Know {AOL Travel News}
Mar 28th 2011 3:22PM Back in the 80s I cleaned airplanes for a major carrier. Overnight cleanings there was not one spot on the aircraft that left in the morning that was dirty. IF you had one bathroom to clean you were the one to clean the bathrooms all night as not to contaminate the galleys. We ran 2 to 3 crews of about 7 people per aircraft. We took pride in it, we were paid well and compensatied. Then the 90s rolled around they started contracting the cabin cleaning out....well you can see what happened everytime you walk on an airplane. I am retired from the industry now, but I will drop my tray when I fly and wipe it off because chances are it was not wiped even if it was overnighted somewhere....Its a shame.
