Why Plymouth Rock Is New England's Biggest Tourist Trap {Gadling}
Jun 29th 2011 11:03AM I saw the rock and was equally disappointed.
To make the drive worth it, visit the Jenny Grist Mill. It was the best part of our day.

Travel advisory - beware of "forced shopping" in Hong Kong {Gadling}
Jul 19th 2010 5:50PM This happens in Marrakesh, Morocco and well documented in travel guides.
Heck, at least in Hong Kong they don't try to get you to tip them when you ask for directions. After a purchase, a young store employee pressured us to have him lead us back to the square. We didn't need directions - we knew the souk very well at this point. He walked several feet ahead of us and after a few turns he points us in a direction and asked for payment. We didn't even agree to him leading us! And he didn't even bring us to the square! To get him off our backs we gave him a few coins - to which he scoffed "this is for kids!" and tried to get more from us. So we took it back and left him.

How not to be a traveling target {Gadling}
Mar 29th 2010 2:28PM I agree with the fannypack comment. Not even sure what a "daypack" is. I'm a woman so I'm used to carrying a purse around. I don't think I'll stick out as a tourist if I carry a purse as long as it's not a flashy LV or Chanel bag. I usually bring a small messenger bag that has some zipper pockets where I can store my cash.
I think wearing cargo shorts is conspicuous. It's like wearing the "Hawaiian shirt, socks with sandals and fanny pack" look. I'd feel like cargo shorts are easier to pickpocket. One hand in and out -- you'd never notice because those shorts are so loose.
Do people really care where you've been? {Gadling}
Mar 2nd 2010 5:19PM I post all my photos online (Facebook, flickr) and have had many friends view and comment. Just last night, I was at dinner with 6 other people and we were sharing travel stories and anecdotes with each other.
Of course there are people who don't care. Like you said, it's casual conversation. It's like asking what someone did over the weekend. Do I really care what you did? Not really -- but I'm asking only because it's appropriate water cooler talk.
If you want someone to care, talk to friends who share your passion for travel. If you don't have those friends...go find some.
