AOL Mystery Flyer: United Airlines Report Card {AOL Travel News}

May 24th 2010 1:04AM To quote Michael Jackson...."One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch"...LOL

Police haul HBO executive, husband off Delta Airlines flight {Gadling}

Jan 29th 2009 7:49PM Forget the he said she said. An HBO exec that doesn't know how to find the speech was taped and online? Guess I should interview for the position! Give me a break. People that do that are just angry in general and a Flight Attendant is an easy target. Since they are in "First Class" obviously they think it is a "class" issue. Ha ha!

Galley Gossip: That Day - 9/11 (plus a chance to win the book Reclaiming The Sky) {Gadling}

Sep 11th 2008 3:12PM I am a Flight Attendant. I am based in LAX and flight 175 was my usual route at the time. My vacation time started on September 12 for a few years running. I was scheduled to work reserve to leave on the 10th and return the 11th. I was released from duty. I was lucky. I am still devastated since I knew a few crew members since they worked that same flight many times as I had.

After my vacation, I returned to the smells and sights of what used to be normal to me. Now everything was magnified and the silence was deafining. The first flight back, after the flight, we found 2 box cutters on the last row of seats and in another seat pocket someone left a book that had a picture of the American flag on it with a hatchet through it. I have no idea how I made it through that trip.

The second trip I flew into Newark airport. When flying out the next day the security lines were out the door and as our crew walked passed the patient passengers, there was a complete silence in the terminal. Then, the entire terminal of passengers began to clap. I could hardly keep my composure and wished I could thank each and every one of them for that encouragement and support and return it with my blessing. I have never felt more moved in my entire life.

A few months ago, I was flying into Sydney. 2 hours or so before landing, a passenger came to me and told me there was an anti-American statement written on the lavatory wall. "F" Americans, die for you" is what it said. I went to the back and there was a man standing in the back that tried to go unnoticed that looked up from the paper he was pretending to read. I noticed. I had no idea if we would land in Sydney that morning but we did. The next week going into Sydney, I saw the same man coming out of our layover hotel. He knew me for certain.

I have been flying for almost 14 years and I still go to work and still face uncertainty but will never forget those that lost their lives or the bravery that was most certainly in their hearts. So....I will continue to go and let it be known that though the passengers may not know it, I am constantly, within my power, protecting them.

I thank all of you that took a second to thank our crews.

Galley Gossip: Ask a flight attendant - Positano, Italy {Gadling}

Aug 17th 2008 3:06PM Well, I am a Flight Attendant but not the one in your story and I can tell you that even doing this job for 14 years, whenever I am going on vacation to an unknown destination, I ALWAYS just start talking to Flight Attendants. SOMEONE has been there! What a wealth of information they are. See? We DO know some things. ;)

Another disabled traveler horror story: Delta passenger with muscular dystrophy forced to crawl off plane {Gadling}

Jul 30th 2008 7:27PM Hey, I have crawled out of a few bars and no one carried me. It's a cruel cruel world...now that is just a joke for the slooooooow....

Jul 30th 2008 7:12PM It is the resposibility of the airport service to provide these services (and trust me they suck) not the airline (not defending the airline either). There are onboard wheelchairs on most flights as well. Customer service suck no matter how you look at it but I feel sorry for most because the companies don't provide adequate staffing and they are underpaid and overworked.

Oh someone pass me a beer and an aspirin....

Texan arrested for mobile calls on aircraft {Gadling}

May 14th 2008 4:48PM I can tell you for a fact that an electronic instrument CAN interfere
with the controls, actually knocking out the instruments for a brief
second. I work on airplanes and this has happened twice. Usually
when turning the device on or off. If the pilots hadn't noticed that
their coordinates had changed...well, let's just say that I wouldn't
be here to warn you. Most device manufacturers have a protective
casing for device signals, however, they are making them so fast they
are not worrying about people using them inflight. By the way it was
a Nintendo that most people don't know uses Wi Fi. So, when we say
turn it off...TURN IT OFF!
