DIY Pool: How Brandon Gardiner and His Dad Built Their Own Backyard Oasis {AOL Real Estate}

Sep 12th 2012 3:33PM Beautiful job -- apparently they had time off work to be able to do this.

To Leana (the author): Your order of activities is off. They had two machines, not just a single Bobcat. The walls were set before they plastered the bottom and slopes with the concrete and then the pool lines was added.

James Davis of Alabama Fights City to Keep Wife Buried in Front Yard of Their Home {AOL Real Estate}

Aug 21st 2012 7:29PM He should obtain two plots in a cemetery. Leave her in the yard at the house until he dies and then move her to be with him in the cemetery. That should make city happy and the new homeowners will have a freshly graded and seeded lawn.

A Fee for Using Plastic Bags: Is Your State Next? {Slashfood}

Feb 10th 2011 10:11AM The clerks should be trained to fill bags, not just put one or two items in them. They could cut use in half overnight!

"Miracle On Ice" Gold Medal Up For Auction {Luxist}

Oct 20th 2010 5:15PM Mark sold it to a collector earlier this year with hopes that the collector "would cherish it" just as he did.

The collecter will only cherish the profit that he quickly turned on his investment.

Suggestion to the collector: split the profit with Mark -- it woiuld be the appropriate thing to do.

Royal Caribbean brings hammer down on art auctions {Gadling}

May 17th 2010 12:20AM "Art is in the eye of the beholder."

You don't buy it because it is a bargin. You don't buy it because it is a good investment.

You buy it because you like it. What you like and don't like will be different from others.

Park West framing was never to my liking and what I purchased (20+ pieces over ten years) were for the most part unframed. Then I worked with my local frame shop to pick something that would enhance the art plus go with my decor in the room where it was to hang.

True, they not really auctions as you could buy almost anything that they offered at the base price.

Many throw away large amounts in the casino for a thrill that lasts but a minute -- unless they are the 1/100,000 that makes it big. Others spend $5-$20 or more a day at Bingo; for every $ paid out in winnings the ship takes in ten times that amount.

I get to look at and enjoy my art purchases every day.

The Salvation Army's $4 Billion Real Estate Bonanza {Housingwatch}

Mar 16th 2010 12:48AM Let's be fair and look at what other religious groups are doing for their spirtual leaders. Many are paid very decent salaries and are still provided "free" housing. What are the total real estate holdings of the Catholic Church in America -- far higher than the SA. Add in all of the other groups and the SA becomes a very small percentage of holdings.

Also, compaere the price of the houses in the area. The LA times is talking about 1.5 mil housing -- in Southern California that is an average house in a decent neighborhood these days. It is far from the top and also not the dumps, either.

Burger King Gets Edgy, 'Futuristic' Makeover {Slashfood}

Oct 8th 2009 6:48PM And who is going to pay for this -- the customer because they will up the prices to cover the cost. Doubtful if the local BK sells 300,000 Whoppers a year -- they will have to add a $1.00 to each one to pay for unneeded decor.

I really don't care what the place looks like as long as it is clean and quite.

I'm gravitating more to Subway these days. The $5 meatball sub with real vegies beats the Whopper with its plastic tomato slice and limp lettuce any day.
