Forgot your passport? Here's a way out! {Gadling}

May 25th 2010 7:18AM Not a good idea to send a taxi for a document like a passport.
Identity stealing is rampant. This is one document that is easily taken away and used by illegals to get in the USA.

'Miss America' Returns to ABC for 2011 Pageant, Disses Miss USA {Stylelist (Main)}

May 25th 2010 6:42AM I can't believe at this day and age that we still have this antiquated (sp) contests of beautiful women that are judged solely on looks and a one minute answer to one question which everybody knows was added to appear these pageants are really about intellect.
Pageants are shallow and so are the contestants who are conditioned by their parents that this is the only way to be validated as a human being. It also attempt to show the winners are actually ambassadors to whatever cause they are hawking, but the process in itself does not remove the vacuous purpose of the pageants in itself: Men's public display of superiority over women. This is Trump's and other men's triumph as the modern procurer of the best looking female human meat in the world.

'The Pacific' on HBO: Previewing the WWII Miniseries From the 'Band of Brothers' Team {Inside TV Blog}

Mar 14th 2010 2:11PM Tom Hank's statement about the Japanese's reasons when they attacked the US was simplistic at best. Should I venture to say, he GUMPED the WW2 History to fit his beliefs and prejudices.
Yep, life during World War 2 as told to me by my father, (who was among those brave US soldiers captured after the fall of Bataan and marched in the infamous Death March) is all about a box of chocolates. You never know what you get in the re-telling of what really happened.

South by Southeast: Ugly bargaining {Gadling}

Jan 17th 2010 9:16AM I'm not a traveler but I was born and raised in the Philippines until I came to the US in 1974. I am familiar with "haggling" and it is an art. I learned it early on in my early teens when my mother sent me to market. And yes, my mother sent me to market alone at an early age of 10.
Bargaining for a better price is normal if you have time to spend but when pressed to go home to cook the fresh meat, fish and vegetables you just purchased, cut the bargaining in just 3 sentences. How much is this? Can you go lower on that? I'll met you halfway.
If there is no agreement reached at that time, either pay for it or go on. The merchant will call you back if you start to move away. And if the merchant calls you back, don't haggle again. Its either he or she is giving you the goods at your last call or not. Just politely decline if the merchant is still trying to coach you into raising your price just a bit or you can accept it, pay for it and go. Simple as that.
Maybe I was raised in a more gentler era because I have not observed any Americans or tourists who visited my small town being rude to anybody. They were very polite and smiled a lot!

Watch: Nancy Grace Attacks Jon Gosselin on TV {PopEater}

Oct 7th 2009 3:19AM Why is Jon appearing on talk shows? What is his motive? Did he really think appearing on TV will make him win friends? And his so called girlfriend, Haley somebody is nothing more than an opportunist who thinks nothing but herself and did not care about those precious little children who are hurting now. I say, what goes around, comes around. More power to Kate and the children. I hope Kate will get sole custody of all the children. Jon doesn't deserve to be with them.

Watch: Nancy Grace Attacks Jon Gosselin on TV {PopEater}

Oct 7th 2009 2:56AM Someone in that household has to have control because if its left to Jon, the show will be as bland as oatmeal in the morning. Kate was the brains. This so called father put a stop to the show because he realized the cash cow has dried out for him. Nancy was right. It wasn't about the children, it was about Jon left behind with no fame and no means of support. It was always about money. It's too sad for the children to be growing up in that kind of environment. Talk about child abuse! The state should take those precious babies away from both of them until they can straighten their lives. Jon also needs to grow up and be there as a father for them without the dollar sign stuck on his eyes. Jon
