Jan 3rd 2011 3:18PM Comments like this one bother me so much. Yes, it's a free country, but that applies to GOVERNMENT, not private businesses. Ron Franklin is free to act like a total moron and not be arrested for it or anything, but ESPN can suspend or fire him if they want to. Seriously, every time I see someone thinking freedom of speech ever (or pretty much any of the basic rights) applied to private businesses, it makes me sad for the state of education in this country.

Just because he was a Major Leaguer (even if he was at best an average one) doesn't mean that he's incapable of doing wrong. Seriously, I think there are plenty of people out there that idolize players so much that they reach the point of thinking they're infallible.

Dec 8th 2010 12:01PM I like Terrence Moore, but anointing Cam Newton as the GOAT is a little silly. Just a few years ago I heard a lot of people saying Vince Young is the greatest of all time. Then Tim Tebow was the greatest of all time. Now Cam Newton is the greatest of all time. It's recency bias and overreaction, which are generally two common traits of sports writers (as well as sports fans.)
I know Cam Newton's a great player, but don't overreact to what you've just seen.
