Dec 2nd 2008 4:51PM Yeah, #1 isn't stupid in the slightest. I hate litterers. Kudos to Singapore for enacting such a law. I hope they actually enforce it. I'd love to see a photo of an offender paying his debt to society.

Jul 7th 2008 11:12AM I believe the Hindenburg disaster was in 1937, and amazingly, only 35 of the 97 people on board lost their lives. They didn't all die, though I'm sure the survivors were plenty shaken up.

Dec 13th 2006 12:53PM Yes, I do believe they are sake barrels. In the traditional sake ceremony, you wack the wooden stopper on top with a mallet until it breaks, and then you ladle out sake to all present. Kampai!

Jul 20th 2006 4:26PM Great photo. I've actually been to this spring. Technically it's located at the edge of a volcanic island across the bay from the main island of Santorini (possibly the most beautiful place in the world). The sulphur-rich mud is supposedly good for your skin, so people rub it all over themselves. It's a rough swim through choppy waters from the boat to the spring and back. I lived to tell the tale, but it was a good reminder that open-water swimming is a lot tougher than paddling around your neighborhood pool.

Dec 29th 2005 2:41PM A belated thank you for the head's up last time. Based on your tip, I booked a non-stop round-trip flight from New York's LaGuardia to Nassau (Bahamas, not Long Island) for two people in January for a hair under $320, all fees and taxes included. That's less than $160 a person in toto, RT, and it's on the exact days we wanted to fly, and pretty much the exact times too. I ain't no shill for Spirit, either, just a cheap dude who likes getting a bargain. By all means, check it out.
