Update on the Boston Hyatt housekeeping story {Gadling}
Sep 23rd 2009 3:37PM Hyatt...please, don't insult the intellignece of this site's readers. .
In most cases, the benefits now offered to the housekeepers were offered only in response to the media storm that resulted form one of the most bone-head moves I've seen in my 30 year history as a hotelier.
This will not end unitl the employees are re-trained and rehired.
As for the new employees living in the Boston area. Get real, it would be hard to live near these properies on the $16.00 per hour the previous employees were paid. At the $10 per hour wages of the new enployees it is out of the question.
This was simply a way to drop employee benefits. It's been said you get the Union you deserve. Good luck working with Unite Here.
