Durian, the food that the "Bizarre Foods" guy spit out {Gadling}

Jun 7th 2009 12:33AM Here's a question: do you think you can take a durian on a short domestic flight in America? Even if it's not been banned for the smell, one could possibly argue the fruit in shell could be used as a weapon...

New Doctor Who to be announced tomorrow {AOL TV}

Jan 3rd 2009 3:05AM Okay, Colin Baker wasn't as bad as some people would like the public to believe, even without considering his fine work in the audio dramas, but surely you had to have meant _Tom_ Baker, and even if you did, allowing such a misprint to hit the internet completely absolves you of credibility. Or Colin Baker is actually your litmus test for good Doctors, in which case, ditto.

Annette Bening and Eva Mendes Join 'The Women' {Cinematical}

May 31st 2007 2:14PM It's about time! While I would have loved to see Ryan and Roberts team up under the director of James L. Brooks, Diane English certainly has the chops to wow audiences, and this is a great cast. One has only to look at the ABC fall TV lineup to see how big a push there has been lately for quality female-driven drama and comedy. Fingers crossed for a well-deserved comeback for the underrated Meg Ryan!

'Lookout' Director Says Harrison Ford "Chickened Out" Of Starring In Drug Drama {Cinematical}

Apr 2nd 2007 2:57AM It's a shame that for the last decade, Harrison Ford hasn't been in a film that's been both a resounding critical and financial success, but it's silly to brush aside the idea that actors are commodities. They are! Sumner Redstone fires Tom Cruise for sabotaging his image and thus his bankability. Every other actor uses his or her image to shill for commercial products, be they fashion items, cars, charities or... TV shows and movies. They get paid according to their perceived bankability, and that relates directly to their being a commodity servicing millions of paying customers.
You can fault Harrison Ford for not having the best taste in scripts lately (passing up a Joe Carnahan movie and "Manhunt" about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth, thinking "Firewall" and "Hollywood Homicide" would be safe bets...), but it's not every day that the artistic side of Hollywood is the one most highly prized. It's a business like any other, and at the end of the day, it's still just a job for him and we -are- his customers.
