Earn elite status on US Airways for 7,500 miles {Gadling}

Sep 21st 2009 7:31AM Is that an act of desperation to drop the qualification level for elite status on US Airways. I was reading today that airlines are headed for big losses and there will be a reduction in air passengers by 20 per cent. That was actually in the Wall Street Journal.

Airlines are scrambling to attract customers. Looking at the way fees are structured now I guess they hope to attact customers into their planes and then hit them for the cost of snacks or for the selection of an aisle seat or for the luggage.

Things sure have changed over the years.

US bound flight grounded after "prank" September 11th bomb threat {Gadling}

Sep 18th 2009 6:38PM This guy must have had his head in the sand for the last few years. There was plenty of coverage in the past about these stupid false bomb threats. They get treated almost to the same level as if they were real.

Maybe he is related to the Aussie guys who robbed a bank in the US wearing their ids and going to a bank where they were known.

Sep 18th 2009 8:53AM I love that sunset. Amazing colors. I saw some amazing sunsets when I was visiting the US a while back. One in Yosemite looked awesome, just could not find a good spot to stop the car and take a pic. Also when I was in San Diego had some nice ones.

Sep 18th 2009 8:02AM Maybe the bird's mate got sucked into the engine and it is trying to find them. Or it is one smart bird and noticed that the plane can fly and it can hitch a ride. I wonder what destination it is wanting to discover.

It is funny. I have heard of cheap flights, but this takes it to a whole new level.

I hope this guy did not end up inside the engine.

Cosmetic surgery tour group stopped at the border {Gadling}

Sep 18th 2009 7:52AM I always find it funny that Asian women want to look more western. What is wrong with their own look?

My wife actually had her eyes changed to be more western looking. She is from Beijing. We went on a flight to Beijing from Australia just so she could get the op done. It is a simple procedure, just a stitch or two to give a crease to the eye lid.

Getting back to those women in the article maybe next time they should just get a boob job.

Amazing Race 14, recap 10: Swimming like Michael Phelps isn't easy {Gadling}

Sep 18th 2009 7:35AM I especially enjoyed this episode. Just did not like the ending. Would have been good to see Jaime and Cara finally win a stage.

I lived in Beijing in 97-98 and met my wife during that time so Beijing is a special place for us. We now live in Australia however have been back several times. The last time was during the Olympics. Was lucky enough to get our Beijing flights on frequent flyer points.

It was a laugh watching everyone trying to either jump off the spring board or swim. I am a reasonable swimmer so I was amazed at how bad they were.

It was nice seeing the Drum Tower again. My wife grew up just 300 yards down the road from there. I took my daughter up there just before the Olympics. Sadly it was exactly one week before the father-in-law of the USA volleyball coach was murdered there.

Anyway it was an entertaining episode, a bit tense at times, but still good fun.

After seeing Guilin I really want to visit there. I am thinking next time to get flights to Beijing and then catch a train down to Guilin.
