High-School Student Suspended for Riding a Horse to School {Pawnation OLD}
Nov 6th 2010 11:22PM I certainly agree that the the assistant principal lived up to the first three letters in his title. Those are 3 letters that I would personally not want to live up to or act like but he sure did act like that.
High-School Student Suspended for Riding a Horse to School {Pawnation OLD}
Nov 6th 2010 11:15PM While I do think that the students and the parents should have notified the school about their intentions to bring a horse to school that day I don't think that this should have resulted in the students being suspended from school. Actually I think the kids should have got an A+ for creativity. From everything I read they did not intend to leave the horse at school that day, the student just rode the horse to school that day. It would have been really neat if he had also been able to ride the horse home if his parents had brought the horse back so he could do that. Creative kids like this one are going to go a long ways in this world.
There is absolutely no way that one can even compare riding a horse to school to bringing loaded fire arm to school. The horse is much less dangerous.
'Kasey to the Rescue' Author Ellen Rogers Talks About the Monkey That Helps Her Paralyzed Son {Pawnation OLD}
Nov 3rd 2010 1:03AM These monkeys and other service animals are not treated like slaves. Believe it or not they are well cared for and loved. Yes, they are trained to help do various things to help people but they are never treated meanly and they do enjoy doing these things. It is also very good exercise for the animal so they are not just sitting around all day. Involving another monkey just to keep the other one company could result in jealousy and fighting between the animals unless they were raised together and trained together from the very beginning. This article also mentions that the monkey is intuitively doing some things to help ease the man's pain; that means the monkey is doing it because the monkey wants to do it not because it has to do it. The monkey and the man have developed a very close relationship which is good for both of them.
Tongabezi Lodge in Zambia for the Holidays, Dr. Livingstone? {Luxist}
Oct 8th 2010 11:17PM Wow, if I ever had the money I'd love to go here. This sounds fantastic.
Who's the Boss? {MyDaily}
Sep 30th 2010 8:40PM This rated being on tv and a few other places because the man did not act like he was above everyone else. He acted like a decent human being. He is a celebrity who was acting like the neighbor next door and not being stand offish like you hear that so many of the stars do. This will be a very special memory for the young couple involved.
Who's the Boss? {MyDaily}
Sep 30th 2010 8:29PM I have read several of these comments and think that it is kind of sad that those I have read don't even bother to mention the young couple that Bruce did this for. They didn't expect him to be there but he was and he honored them by taking pictures with them and playing a little bit for them. This will be a very special memory for both of them. I am so happy that such a thing happened for them. Way to go Bruce! I hope this young couple has a very happy life together.
Six High-Paying Medical Careers with Lots of Job Openings {AOL Jobs}
Sep 24th 2010 4:46PM I am a home care worker in the state of Oregon who is finding it difficult to find full time work. I am good at my job and I know it but...this economy is not helping out. Many people are cutting back on things like home care workers if they have to pay for them unless they happen to have a lot of money. I am on a state list so state clients can call me but I don't get a lot of those calls. I am also a "senior" who is in need of work but...if I don't get that call from the client I don't get work. I was a nurses aide many years ago but at that time one did not need to be certified which one needs to be now so I don't have my cna certificate but I still know how to do the work. I am fortunate that I have had a few case workers make some calls for their clients and I have picked up a little work that way but right now even that is not happening. I am tired of unemployment (which will be running out soon) and want to work badly. I cannot at the minute afford to pay for any classes; you need an income to afford to pay for those kinds of things and right now I am lucky to just be able to pay my bills.
Pay with your smartphone instead of swiping a card? {WalletPop}
Aug 24th 2010 11:41PM Charles, I am like you I don't want or need all of those gadgets. I do have a cellphone because I need it for my work and in case something should happen and I need help when I am driveing around but even though it can do lots of things besides be a just a phone that is all I use it for. I live about 20 miles out of town and if something happens out here there is little opportunity to get help unless you are fortunate enough to break down near someone's home but some of this area is very scarcely inhabited. I wish I could get a cell phone that is just a phone and that is it. Yes, i do have a computer and I am guilty of paying several of my bills online because our pay days and the day the bills are due are quite close together so that makes it a lot easier and faster for me to get the bills paid and be on time. If I am going to use a credit card to pay for something I can take that out of my purse when I am ready to use it. Having to take that credit card out of my purse is one of the things that makes me start to think twice about whether or not I really need the item I want to put on the credit card. I haven't taken that card out of my purse for quite awhile now.
By the way if I should loose my phone all people are going to get is the phone numbers of the people that are on my list and a few pictures of my youngest son that I took with it. They won't get anything of value besides that. I can easily have service to that phone cut off and still be able to retain my phone number when I get a new phone so it wouldn't do the finder any good to try to use my phone. Yes, if I loose my purse I would loose my credit cards, checkbook etc. but just watch how fast everything will be cancelled and therefore rendered useless to whomever gets my purse.
39 Crazy Treehouses {Urlesque}
Aug 20th 2010 3:33AM These tree houses were fantastic. A few of them looked like they might have a lot of room to actually live in them and I think that would be fun to do.
CNN: Federal appeals court proclaims memorial crosses on highways unconstitutional {Autoblog}
Aug 19th 2010 4:33PM This article is about Utah state troopers who were killed in the line of duty; it is not about religion or anything similiar to that. The crosses are privately owned so the state really has nothing to do with them. Since they were Utah state troopers why shouldn't the state emblem be on those crosses? I see nothing wrong with that. I see plenty of privately owned crosses set up on our highways here in Oregon and they just remind me to be more careful on the road as someone died in that spot. I even try to say a brief prayer for them and their families when I can and I don't even know who those people were. Leave these crosses and other people's crosses be...they have nothing to do with religion they are a memorial for those people and their families.
