The world's most disappointing tourist attractions {Gadling}
Feb 5th 2009 5:42PM Yes, and the Alamo is so SMALL too... I expected some giant building, not this little bitty façade that you could pass and barely notice. I was disappointed about like I was with the Mona Lisa... about a fourth as big as you expect!
The world's most disappointing tourist attractions {Gadling}
Feb 5th 2009 5:34PM Yes, what a disappointment!! As a monument it was nice, but since the wall went down they have built new modern buildings on both sides that come right up beside the Brandenburg Gate, and all but touch it... there's maybe a 10-inch gap between the old and the new. How on earth can an intelligent country so utterly ruin the effect of their most famous landmark? It should be all by itself out there on that plaza. The great St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna is the same situation... a magnificent ancient Gothic structure that deserves a huge plaza in front, but no, they've gone and stuck hideous modern buildings right in front of it, totally destroying the effect it could have made.
Quiz: How Well-Traveled Are You? {Gadling}
Jan 28th 2007 8:10AM How about YOU buying a map... only a small part of Turkey is in Europe... the rest is in Asia. And Istanbul is NOT the capital, Ankara is, which is in the Asian part. And Cyprus is a member of the EU, but it is nowhere near Europe.
Grits: versatile and delicious {Slashfood}
Sep 7th 2006 12:13AM Oh hawgwash, nobody says "grits is..." -- no more than they say chitlins is or mashed taters is. And ya pernounce em "gree-yuts" anyway. Mighty good stuff, even if they do look like bull semen.
