The Gadling 2010 Dads and Grads gift guide and giveaway {Gadling}
Jun 14th 2010 12:20PM I actually have both a dad and a grad in my life right now!
My dad is one of my best friends. He's smart and funny and kind, and he's actually the reason I love to travel. When I was young, he worked for a hotel reservation call center, and thanks to the discounts he'd get, we'd take a trip to Minneapolis once a year for as long as I can remember! He's also an amateur photographer like me, so we'll both take hundreds or thousands of photos on vacations and then go through each others to find the best ones. For 12 years, he'd take me to batting cages and play catch with me and come to all my softball games- until I blew out my knee. I'm a little lost in life right now, and he's always encouraging me to keep going, no matter how whiny I get! My dad inspires me to see new things and to consider different possibilities- to keep an open mind no matter what.
The grad in my life is my best friend. She and her husband (of 6 months) just graduated from college. She initially planned to go to grad school in Chicago, but her husband couldn't find a job out there, and instead ended up moving to Omaha, NE. She's so sad that grad school has been indefinitely postponed, but is still keeping a positive attitude about all the changes in her life right now. In addition to getting married, graduating from college and moving to Omaha, her dad is going to Kuwait for 6 months- he's an engineer, and is also in the National Guard. She's having a tough time finding a job, and is going a bit stir crazy in their new apartment since she doesn't have a car! Despite all the changes and challenges, she's still willing to listen to me whine and have me over to play PS3 and unwind after a hard day at work. She's an amazing girl, and I'm truly lucky to have a friend like her!
SkyMall Monday: Garden Yeti ACTUAL REVIEW {Gadling}
Apr 20th 2010 3:22PM I normally don't comment on posts here on Gadling, but I had to today! Those photos of you and Calvin were hilarious! I am worried that getting a Garden Yeti may cause too much panic in the garden gnomes. Then they're going to chase my Garden Yeti with pitch forks and torches and it's gonna be chaos in my garden.

Netflix To Delay All New Releases for Fox, Universal and Warner Bros. {Cinematical}
Apr 14th 2010 11:03AM I agree with the assertion made in the article that this could hurt some DVD sales- I will often wait to get a movie through Netflix to see if I like it or not before going to the store and buying the DVD. And sometimes, it takes so long for the DVD to come out after having been in the theatres (and because I see a ridiculous amount of movies), that I want to see it again on DVD to remember if I liked it enough to buy it on DVD.
I'm not super upset I'll have to wait longer for new releases, but the film companies still won't be getting my money for their DVD until after it gets to Netflix, so it's counter-intuitive.
