Oct 13th 2009 8:12PM I teach high school English--and drink between 3 and 4 bottles of water per day. We recently started a recycling program at school, but I still feel guilty when I drop my water bottles in the recycling can. I would definitely use these bottles--EVERY day! :-)

Sep 25th 2009 9:49PM I owned a hairless Crested--they also come in a fluffy Powderpuff variety--and EVERYONE thought she was a "miniature horse". She was the sweetest tiniest thing--her legs were no thicker than my index finger and she weighed less than 4 lbs. Unfortunately, she had a heart murmur and died before her 2nd birthday. She was a GREAT little dog--don't let looks fool you!!!

Judge much? You don't know me. At ALL. That comment was written as I was getting ready to go to my 10-hr day teaching high school. Not only do I get "#1 Teacher" gifts, but last year, ALL my students surprised me on my birthday with a party, complete with cards and gifts.
Sweetheart, I teach ENGLISH. I know that "crap" is a word--one with a long history. Its origin is Middle English, from sometime between 1375 and 1425.
And guess what? I clicked on your name. You have MANY posts. In fact, I checked them out...and was SHOCKED to read the following:

So...I'm sure the other readers will find this as interesting as I. In the meantime, here's a little education from a teacher:
1) Being cruel to online posters can--and will--come back to haunt you. Call it karma.
2) Ending your snarky, mean, judgmental post with "God bless you all" doesn't make it LESS snarky, mean and judgmental.

Suddenly, Earth-Friendly E-Readers Are Everywhere {Switched.com}
Sep 13th 2009 10:50AM I use the Amazon Kindle app on my iPhone. It allows me to read books electronically, but the device I'm using also allows me to make phone calls, check stocks, play games, etc.
Still, e-books will never replace "real" books for me. I love holding a book, reading pages, turning pages, hugging the book close when I finish a great story...I'll always buy paper books even though I love--and will use--the electronic option.

Jul 29th 2009 9:27AM I'm a teacher--in my 18th year, and I JUST make $51,000. And yes, I have a Master's degree. Furthermore, we were told there's no money for raises this year. I'm lucky--am at a charter school. Those in state public schools are being "furloughed" through the school year--being forced to take time off without pay. Furthermore, teaching is NOT easy--and it's definitely NOT the job to go into "for the money"!!! It's a job you must LOVE.
North Carolina Paying Teenage Girls Not to Procreate {Lemondrop}
Jun 26th 2009 10:54PM I live in NC, which teaches "abstinence education" rather than sex ed. Kids are given ridiculous suggestions like "hold hands" and "write each other love notes" in lieu of having sex rather than told about birth control and safe-sex practices. I think this is a GREAT idea--assuming that with the money comes some character education as well. Girls need to feel good enough about themselves to say "no" in the first place, rather than to give in to "keep" a boyfriend or because they get lost in a moment of passion. I support UNCG's program--and know a few girls who may sign up!!
