From the Doctor's perspective:
It's been 26 good years of delivering the best care I can give...100% of myself every day. No promotions, narry a raise (newbies get the same $$ as those with experience), no guaranteed pension, and on the other side fighting with the insurers for medication for my wife's chronic illness. I get physically sick listening to the grand plans of a government that doesn't understand the problem, nonetheless the fix. I'm currently exploring my "other" talents. I'm likely to be out of the field of Medicine before I'm 60. In my area, Docs are closing up shop...having trouble making their "nut" due to insurance company games and diminishing pay. Staff's tough to keep even in this economic environment...can't take the getting yelled at by patients about the stacks of forms, and tired of talking to the automated prompts at the "black holes" we call insurance companies. I worry about the care I'll get as I age, but for now feel sorry for the seniors who paid into the system and will be left flat as I believe many practices will abandon Medicare in the forseeable future. It's a shame for us, and on us all! Thanks for listening...okay, back to work...the waiting room's full!

Is there a document that spells out whether this is legal or moral?...gasp! I'm feeling a bit insecure....we need a panel to study this right away! Perhaps it will create 12 or 15 new high paying jobs! I know! A "Common Sense" Czar! Cabinet level position with full staff and subcommittees...that oughta do it!
