Jan 22nd 2012 4:28PM The drug cartels are fighting over Mexico as a transit point for their product to the U.S. market. The greatest thing the U.S. could do to eliminate the violence would be to really close the border and eliminate the drug flow. That would eliminate Mexico's value to the cartels. And yes, the border can be closed to all but legal trade. Smuggling can be stopped. Legitimate border crossings can be checked to prevent or greatly reduce drug traffic. But it takes political will.

Feb 19th 2011 12:22AM Very misleading headline. He didn't say HIV doesn't exist. What He said was that "he doesn't have it and doesn't believe he ever did". Considering the health he appears to be in, he is probably correct, especially if it is true that he has never received treatment.

Is he supposed to distribute a certified picture of himself so the public can differentiate it from the one published? If his wife says it isn't him, many won't believe her anyway. In the tapes of the phone call - if it is really him - he doesn't say anything perverted. Sure he asks her to come by his room, but for all we know the "sideline reporter (Jenn Stenger) had been hounding him for an interview so soundbites could be played on the scoreboard' giant TV during a game. Any other player who says it doesn't look like Brett will be hounded as being a "gay in the closet" for noticing. This is different from Tiger--Brett isn't claiming he slept with her; nor is she even saying it bothered her. He didn't go to her room or follow her. For this to surface 2 years after he left the Jets, when she is no longer employed there is either stupid or extortion. The other possibility is that she is a vindictive woman who the "star QB" didn't party with.

Did potatoes cause the modern family to eat fast food, pizza, or something just hideous 4 out of 7 nights a week? No! Go to a schol cafeteria sometime, the only thing the kids eat are the potatoes-the beans and salads go in the trash. First, the nannies told Americans that sack lunches were dangerous because the sandwiches would spoil (lol, construction workers must be dying like flies from eating from lunchboxes). Now after getting all the kids eating "not from home" lunches, the Feds are worried they don't eat right. Quit serving bagged snacks at school, ban the soda - then serve the kids simple food like meatloaf, chili, hamburger on a whole wheat bun, whole wheat pasta, rice, plain green beans, mashed potatoes, and milk. Bring back PE in grades 1 - 4, have recess for the little kids too.

May 10th 2010 10:32PM MIZZOU would be a good fit, making it 12. This is about more than football. There are smaller sports where the Big 12 is lacking, that the Big 10 has. Also, academically, the Big 10 has more prestige, and universities love academic prestige. The real coup would be to add Missouri, Syracuse, and Kansas. It would maintain geographic continuity and consolidate several major TV markets for the Big 10.
