Just how dangerous are stimulus-driven deficits in the long run? {Daily Finance}
Nov 8th 2009 2:15AM LOL What kind of economist would you EXPECT coming from UC Berkeley? On TV they were conducting a poll at that university to find out who their favorite president was. More than one mentioned Ben Franklin.
Democrats always underestimate how much all of these "programs" (aka handouts) cost the people that WORK for a living.
They SAY that Cap and Trade will only cost .44 cents (the price of a single stamp) unfortunately, the CEO of a West Virginia power company was on TV and stated that electricity costs would double for everyone. Not only that, but once Obama signs the Copenhagen treaty, we can kiss this country goodbye and start taking our marching orders from an unelected panel in the EU. Good times. I hope those that voted for Obama like the CHANGE they wanted.
House Narrowly Passes Historic Health Care Bill {Politics Daily}

11:24PM Nov 7th 2009
How is it bad, we finally have a health care bill in the works that works, the Republican bill did nothing for anyone that didnt hav insurance, this bill is for every American no matter their welth or social status, this is wat the Spirit of America is all about*****
You must be either living in a vacuum or drinking from the koolaid well. HOW is a major increase in our taxes, higher insurance premiums, less access to healthcare GOOD for us?(BTW, not ONE member of Congress would ever, EVER have this plan for themselves or their families...they made sure of that!)
If this bill passes, our lives will be pretty much taken over by the government. I'm going to get a list of the traitors that passed this bill and do whatever I can to see that they not only don't get reelected, but term limits get on the ballots.
Wake up people, we're quickly losing what little liberty we have left in this country.
Republican Wins in Virginia, New Jersey Build Momentum for 2010 {Politics Daily}
Nov 4th 2009 9:27AM I would much rather listen to a person that IS nervous when being being interviewed than someone that is a smooth talker. Look at the bill of goods Obama managed to sell to 52% of the people in this country. Some have finally woke up and realized what they had done. Others still continue to drink from the kool aid well. It's amusing to listen to them "defend" Obama's and the democrats really BAD policies. They sound like a bad version of "The Stepford Wives". But, I guess they will WASTE the better part of 2010 trying to ram something down the American public's throat and cost us our soverignity, and pretty close to 60% of our paycheck to cover 2% of the population. That's NOT an investment, that's throwing money down the toilet, but I guess worth it to them because the real goal is taking over a greater part of our lives.
They HAD a chance when they took over Congress in 2006, but they proved that they were a bunch of whiny children and decided to take the focus off of regulating Fannie and Freddie (Barney Frank did everything he could to not only make sure they weren't regulated, but also forced banks to lend to people that couldn't AFFORD A HOUSE TO BEGIN WITH...the main cause of the financial crisis) and go after a lame duck President.
Dollar store shopping: bargain or marketing ploy? {WalletPop}
Oct 17th 2009 11:04AM A word to the wise shopping at any dollar store when it comes to food product. READ WHERE THE PRODUCT WAS MADE. Most of the stuff they sell is made in China (yeah, yeah...like everywhere else) but I have a problem buying ANYTHING that I consume made in China...they have "issues" with how their food is raised (fish are raised in sewer/waste water...yum) not to mention the lead and other assorted goodies they have slipped into dog and baby food items that were lethal.
Another thing to look at on the label is the phrase "Distributed by..." I bought some marshmallows last year at Walmart for my Christmas baking and I tasted one. Nasty. Tried a bite of a second one. Still nasty. Gave one to my son to make sure it wasn't just my taste buds. Nasty. I returned them. Even the opened bag. Think about it. Legally, the marshmallows could have been made in China, shipped in large bags to a "distributor" where they were packaged into the smaller 10-16 oz bags.
I have seen this distributed by on more and more food products and I won't buy them. I should contact the company and find out where the country of origin is. I wouldn't doubt for a second that it's China. Now that Boxer and Feinstein voted to keep the water turned off to the San Joaquin Valley (they grow over 30% of the nation's food) and have turned it into a desert (I just found out that we're being forced to import more food from China!! The USA IMPORTING FOOD!!)
Wake up people before it's too late.
Sticker shock at the supermarket: Food prices poised to rise {Daily Finance}
Oct 16th 2009 3:07AM Of course prices are going to rise. Between Congress spending money we don't have, and BORROWING TRILLIONS from China (newsflash: we are NOT the weathiest nation on earth...if that were true, we would not be in debt to the stratosphere to the Chinese, Japanese and Brazilians) and Senators Boxer and Feinstein,voting to save a 3" bait fish and shut off the water to the Joaquin Valley (which grows over a third of our food) is it any wonder?
We really need to vote these clowns OUT OF OFFICE and get term limits!! Too many have been in office too long.
Couple Lives in Flood Tunnels Under Las Vegas {Asylum}
Oct 12th 2009 10:35AM We do. It's called welfare, food stamps, medicaid, housing....problem is, people want, want, want and they seem to have zero control, or zero sense when it comes to making decisions, and then WE have to bail them out. People max out their credit cards, buy houses waaay out of their price range, or like the guy in the story, got hooked on herion. We're constantly being told that kids are soooo much smarter than WE were at their age...guess he wasn't paying attention in health class during the drug lectures.
I don't feel sorry for them. People make bad decisions and THEY should have to make some effort to fix their problems. If WE do it, there is no incentive for them to work things out on their own and become dependent upon the state.
We're No. 3! U.S. slips behind Australia in financial development {Daily Finance}
Oct 12th 2009 3:01AM I laugh every time I hear Obama say that we are the wealthiest nation on the planet. He must be smoking something besides cigarettes to make this statement. We are the biggest BORROWER nations on the planet, and the democrats keep pushing for healthcare that is not going to cover everyone, and it's going to cost us big time. Pelosi is now talking about a VAT tax. This is NOT a flat tax people. You also have the democrat plan of you either having to pay for insurance you don't want or go to jail. They are also hypocrites with it comes to the "death panels". It's NOT about pulling the plug on grannie. What it comes down to is how much YOU are worth to the collective vs how much it costs to keep you alive. That spans from children being born with disease or handicaps that would require a lifetime of medical attention (I can see them now wanting healthcare workers to advise new parents to just "let it go") or you go from being a productive member of society and get in a car accident or develop an illness/disease. Don't think so? Just look at the woman in OR that needed medicine, but the state said it was too expensive, but they were able to offer her euthansia since that was only 60.00. Good times ahead.
Dan Adler, California Clean Energy Fund: Seed-stage energy investments {Daily Finance}
Oct 7th 2009 5:05PM Is the purpose of this article to try and make us more like California? The state that is soooo broke that they shut off the water to the Joquin Valley (the major food growing area in the US) in order to put over 30,000 people out of work (hmmm, I guess they don't NEED that tax revenue to cover their HUGE SPENDING PROBLEM?) and now people are in food lines and we're now starting to import food from CHINA (we all know how good THEY are at keeping things safe) but at least the 3" smelt, a BAIT FISH is safe.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS GOVERNMENT???
Teen Vogue Cover Features Pregnant Teen Model {ParentDish}
Oct 7th 2009 1:49PM Talk about glorifying teenage pregnancy by putting a pregnant model on the cover along with associating it with "style". My son is in highschool, and it's AMAZING how many girls are going out of their way to get pregnant. One girl is a sophomore and working on child number two. WHO is taking care of the kid's kid now? Grandma is saddled with this. There seems to be zero consequences for getting pregnant. Magazines make it look wonderful, fellow classmates ooh and aahh over the pregnant one, and even the future grandparents seemed to think it's funny with "well, kids will be kids." Can you say LAME?? Parents need to grow a backbone, and the girls, if they can't keep their legs together until they graduate, find a JOB and move out of the house, need to get those iphones working to find the nearest planned parenthood center/health dept. for FREE birthcontrol pills. Yeah, yeah, it takes two to tango, but the excuse of not having a condom or "we only did it one time" is no excuse. Besides, isn't it the schools and planned parenthood the ones that are saying parents are stupid and the kids are the smart ones?
The $38 cup of coffee? The Top 5 risks of using your debit card {WalletPop}
Oct 6th 2009 1:02PM When you write a check, it should be good the moment you hand it to a person regardless of the date. When people "hold" a check, they are doing so as a courtesy.
Obviously, the guy that bought the expensive coffee, and a few of the posters here live too close to the bone when it comes to finances. Even when I was 19 and just starting out living on my own, I ALWAYS made sure I had at least 100.00 in my account the day before payday. A trick I used to do was divide how many days before payday by my checkbook balance and that let me know how much I could spend per day, if I chose to do so. I had friends that would "float" checks so they could satisfy a craving for tacos (nothing like going to the grocery store and buying 40.00 worth of ingredients instead of taco bell for under 10.00) when you're broke, and then take money from one account to another, or use charge cards to pay down another charge card. People have zero discipline and a "need it now" attitude that got them and the country into a huge financial mess.
