Feb 16th 2011 8:50AM I didn't learn how to speak to my daughter...she learned how to speak "parent".. key word there...Dr. Spock taught a generation how to raise self indulgent, me first, kids.. and now shrinks are teaching the same thing. A parent is the person in charge; but only if you are a PARENT! Not a buddy, pal, friend, etc.. Most parents I've met need a lesson in who's in friggin' charge!!!

Jan 19th 2011 11:33AM I've noticed that in Mid-Michigan Dollar General has built a lot of free-standing units. Very Clean, and well organized. I buy all my soaps, dental supplies, and OTC drugs there. Also, the cheapest price in town on Milk. They buy from the local Co-op; so you know it's fresh. I don't buy clothes, or many food items there; but easy to find, quick in and out.

Dec 15th 2010 6:51PM My daughter, now 24 and out of college, ate her share of happy meals; and always ate the food first because that was the RULE. Parents are the rule makers, not the child. I've spent over 10 years as a health officer at a summer camp and can tell ya that most kids are used to getting things their way. Once at camp, and dealing with people that enforce rules, they welcome the parameters. We've never had a kid go home and tell their parents that they were mistreated; but rather what a great time they had....following rules. All parents should try it, it does work!
