How To Fly If You're A 'Customer Of Size' {Gadling}
Nov 14th 2012 2:55PM My wife was recently on an Alaska Air flight. She had an aisle seat with two obese people in the other two seats. Because of their size my wife had less than half of her seat available to her, and she could not use her seat belt with one of the obese people sitting over it. The attendants told her there were no other seats available. She used her seat as best she could for takeoff and then stood for the remainder of the two and a half hour trip. It would seem to me that having a passenger who has no seat belt available would be a safety violation.
As far as we are concerned - United is a WINNER for their policy. Overweight people should have to purchase two (or three) seats if they want to fly - and should not be allowed to infringe on someother passengers space.
Lost city found in Ethiopia {Gadling}
Aug 8th 2009 3:49PM I grew up in this country! Visit Lalebella for sure. The people are wonderful, Muslim or Christian, the countryside is arresting with the tukuls and the flat topped trees in the background. Go to Lake Awasa and catch some of the largest catfish I have ever seen. Be sure to try the local beer and don't forget to try injera and watt. Ask some of your new found friends that you will make in Ethiopia to show you around, they can take you to lakes that are covered with floating pumice and in the city of Addis, they can show you historic squares where so many stories are told about the history. This is the land of the queen of Sheba, hear her tales as well. You will love it! I did!
