Landlord Dennis Alan Van Dusen's Smoke Detectors Hid Spy Cameras {AOL Real Estate}

Apr 22nd 2013 1:12AM Apparently the only justice to be found for victims of video/Internet voyeurism is suing the perps for every stinking penny they have or could possibly have. A misdemeanor? Come'on Congress! Catch up with the criminals! I am not a big fan of "sue 'em"--our court system has been water-logged with nuisance and downright stupid suits but in this type of situation, and with no other real legal consequences? SUE 'EM!!

NO ONE should have the right to, or be allowed to through lax penalties, invade a person's home, whether on foot or by camera! Some of these predators have even posted the vidoes on-line, sharing and/or selling their evil as pornography!! What disgustingly low depths can some "people" (for lack of a better term) crawl to!?! (And what is scary is how many stalkings start off with such monitoring of the victim!)

Hey Congress! Here ya go! Make part of the penalty be deeding the property to the tenants--permanently--when a landlord so shatteringly breaks the trust of the tennant/landlord contract (plus whatever other assets the lawsuits can bring to the table.) When it is an apartment complex, sell it and divide the proceeds between the victims. Don't let the scummy landlord EVER AGAIN be allowed to own property for rent.

Oct 4th 2012 4:17PM Oh come on. I am that shining example of American--an Independent voter--so have no personal problem with comments for or against Obama. However, I DO have a problem with silly, unrelated slams in comments on articles that have nothing whatsoever to do with the presidency in or out of an election year. Campaign against whomever you choose but don't waste our time with illogical, unrelated comments in articles that have absolutely nothing to do with the presidential election.

In case you did not learn in social studies, we have a multi-tiered governmental system over which the President does NOT wield total control of all elements. City government, especially the petty bureaucrats that seem to be involved in Philly, are not managed or directly influenced in any way by the President.

Oct 3rd 2012 3:10PM Ever heard of "The Emperor's New Clothes?" Naked greed and indolence clothed in self-satisfied silly pettiness. Power-hungry incompetents are ticked that an industrious, competent small-business owner showed them an accurate reflection of themselves.

The irritation they felt at being forced to see themselves as they are is nothing to what they are feeling now that their self-centered vindictive retaliation is being exposed for ALL to see.

Small-business is the backbone of our country's economic system. Too bad these petty bureaucrats didn't get the memo--an unsafe lot empty of everything but garbage and generating zero tax money vs. neighborhood gathering spot and stimulant for area small business...hmmmm.

'The Hop' Takes Suitcases Hands-Free {Gadling}

Oct 2nd 2012 7:30PM I got irritated with it's speed in the videoso meandering through a busily hopping airport? And what is to stop a busy thief from just picking it up and hopping away? An audible alarm? Who can hear your phone ringing, let alone your bag calling in airports?

With constant overhead messages to "Keep your baggage in your possession at all times" I seriously doubt 'hop" will get many takers--at least, not legal ones.

I also have to wonder how much all tha technology weighs. You may not have to drag it but you still have to lift it. Also, with weight limits on checked bags and a push to limit carry-on's it won't take airlines long to institute weight limits on carry-on's too. I'ld rather drag along what I need than have too little following me like a puppy.

How Would You Deal with Charlie Sheen (and Other Problem Employees)? {AOL Small Business}

Mar 9th 2011 4:30PM He is still on some chemical whether or not he admits it. Whether "addict" or "power user" he has been frying brain cells by the million for years and sounds like he does not have many left so he better do what he can to conserve them. "Shut up and go away, ya big dummy, and stop trying to take as many people down with you as you can! If you really want to earn the respect you demand, grow up and stop throwing temper tantrums like a 2 year old."

Tress Test: Scarlett Johansson's 2011 Golden Globes Updo Hairstyle {Stylelist (Main)}

Feb 22nd 2011 3:34AM Come on! Haven't you ever heard of faux fur? Do you have to automatically jump to the most judgemental position you can find, with nothing on which to base it than your own reactionary "PC" attitude?

Besides, the goal here was retro-glamour and I think they did a nice job. Not exactly "real world" like an office or taking the kids to school, unless your "real" world includes a live-in hairdresser.

Jan 18th 2011 11:47PM As I learned in college while working on my nursing degres, powder is a rotten idea anywhere on the human body that is not exposed to light and air, especially feet. Feet in shoes--and boots no matter who makes them--are already at risk for fungus due to the fungus-feeding classic 3 factors, "Warmth, Darkness, and Moisture". If powder is mixed in it gives fungus a rich source of food on which they thrive! That includes corn starch. (It is also major risk factor for fungal diaper rashes--sorry moms and dads--and arm pits and crotch fungus/jock itch.) Leather, real sheep fleece, and cloth do help by allowing some "breathing" compared to plastic and vinyl but not enough. Powder gives a false sensation of dryness, but it only absorbs a very small amount of moisture and then becomes a paste--fungus food!

Prevention is best. The non-powder tips are helpful but also do good foot care 1-2 times/day,especially at bedtime--wash feet well with soap, and warm water. Use a wash cloth to gently and thoroughly exfoliate. Rinse well with LOTS of warm water, then dry well with a towel AND blow dryer, especially between toes. Go barefoot lots unless diabetic or have circulation problems to feet.

If despite your best efforts your feet become itchy or red, don't just treat your feet, but treat your shoes as well so that they don't re-infect your feet.

So, in short, NEVER USE POWDER ANYWHERE ON THE HUMAN BODY that is usually DARK-WARM-MOIST, conditions that are fungus-heaven.

One more reason, it is impossible to apply powder without breathing some in. This can be a bad thing for some folks, particulary babies, people with asthma or other chronic lung problems, and anyone with a tracheotomy or on a ventilator. It can trigger airway constriction or increase the risk for lung infections.

Family Confirms Tabloid Reports That Aretha Franklin Is Suffering From Cancer {BV Newswire}

Dec 8th 2010 11:19PM Dear Ms. Franklin,
You have touched my life and so many others and not just through the gift of your music. While living so much of your life in plain view of the world (much more than we "the public" have a right to expect or demand of performers) you have shown dignity, strength, humor, and grace under pressure--truly living worthy of the term "role model."

Thank you for all you have given us--music that is as fresh and relevant today as when first recorded, sung with your incomparable voice and genius, and a consistent example of life not perfectly (which is an immpossible burden) but truly well lived. All I can give in return are my prayers for you and your family as you face the challenges ahead. From what I read, you know the Source of true strength, love, peace, and contentment, so I encourage you to "hold fast to the promise" as you move forward, making every day count, making every day a blessing.

Elderly New York Couple Kicked Off Ship After Fight {AOL Travel News}

Nov 13th 2010 1:40AM I am sure there is a lot of the story we have not been given on BOTH sides but beyond the obvious questions "what really happened?" and "what role, if anything, did racism play" I have to wonder this. After being told to get off at the first port of call, why were they kept for an additional 6 days, imprisoned in their cabin? Could this have anything to do with that "cancellation policy"? If the un-named "Captain" was truly trying to show "deference to their age" he should have helped them get to the nearest airport and fly home at the FIRST opportunity 6 days sooner--a trip of a few hours in first class to familiar surroundings and people. Imprisoning/confining them to their room for 6 additional days seems to shows "deference" to noone but Cunard, allowing them to hang on to LOTS more of the couple's bucks--about19,000 of them--rubbing salt in their wounds.

Now about the "confined to room"/"imprisonment" issue. Room service, 500 thread count sheets, and a window only pads and gilds the cell but a cell it was. They were stripped of their right to choose their destination and activities. They couldn't even shop for duty-free booze and other vital cruise ship "stuff" (sarcastic lol #1) They have managed to live long, full lives without inflicting much damage. I seriously doubt that for the 6 days of captivity they would have posed much of a threat, (physical or psychological), to anyone if allowed to prowl the halls in pursuit of a good time like eating whenever & whereever, gambling, or seeing a mediocre "show" On second thought,maybe he was saving them from the "cruel and unusual punishment" of cruise ship "entertainment". (sarcastic lol #2). At least they would have gotten SOMETHING that for that $20,000!
