Oct 20th 2010 9:19PM A million years ago when I went to school the cafeteria served real food and it was cooked on the premises. They served it on real ceramic dinnerware with real silverware too. We used to get things like chili beans green salad corn bread milk and peach cobbler or meatloaf mashed potatoes mixed vegetables fruit salad and a brownie and milk.It was just regular food that was always hot fresh delicious. There was never pizza burritos or anything like that. Sometimes we would get hot dogs and macaroni salad or maybe a hamburger with potato salad.NEVER any chips or fun foods. We actually had a vending machine that sold huge ice cold red delicious Washington Apples.NO soda machines at our school.AND because it was a fairly small town many of us walked about a mile or so to and from school AND we ALL participated in gym class.Not too many overweight kids back then at school.But this was before video games computers and our parents did not allow us to plop down and become one with the "idiot box"(TV). in those days. We had to do chores...homework...and the expectation was that since you were a kid if your chores.homework were done you should be outside out of the house getting fresh air playing with other kids.Riding your bike...playing catch....swinging on the tire swing......jump rope..hopscotch.....roller skating.In other words having fun!!!!!! Teach the kids to have fun....be active and that they are what they eat:) If you instill good habits and standards in your kids you are doing them a favor and most will follow that path.There is NO reason to allow your kids to eat all of that fat....lard....sugar laden food when you can just as easily feed them fresh fruits......fresh salads.....good vegetables....home cooked soup..stew....lentils..beans....and leave out the junky processed stuff. Give them cold water with a lemon slice. AND don't allow the kids to eat as much as they want when they want either.Teach them to LOVE their body enough to take care of it!

Oct 20th 2010 8:55PM Limiting the intake of refined carbs and sugars is what makes sense. Trying to feed the kids lean proteins...whole wheat breads..veggys...fruits...water.....low fat or fat free milk and dairy products...olive oil,etc. And getting them OFF their computers...OFF their Wii's and PlayStations and up moving and active. Potatoes can be a part of a healthy diet just don't dip them in batter deep fry them coat them in sea salt then dip them in catsup mixed with mayo and expect them to be healthy low fat or low calorie:) Maybe brush them with olive oil and herbs and broast them in the oven.There are so many ways to modify recipes so that people can eat them and not feel deprived.Trying to modify the eating habits of a person who has developed an "addiction" to junk foods is going to take a hellofa LOT more than removing potatoes from their school lunch menu!!!!!!!!!!!

of being a real woman.Believe me I am 5'9" tall and I have been a super skinny size 3 and a super fuller figured size 16. I received just as much attention when I was rounder as I did when I was skinny. WHY?
Because I love men of all ages and it shows in my interactions with them.

Mar 30th 2009 2:21PM Our kitchenette/lunchbreak area was directly off of the large area where our cubicles were.Not a week went by that some slop either burned the microwave popcorn so bad that the Fire department showed up or they would microwave some horrid lunch covered in rotton fish sauce.So of course the rest of us had to smell those odors permeating the work areaa and gag all day long.Other than that they were very very cool.

Married means you have a significant other to be loyal to.The woman who wrote this article is out of touch with reality.Every place I have ever held a job has had really strict rules regarding anything that resembles sexual harassment,etc. Being friendly is good but come on if you are married you have taken yourself "out of the game" And anyone who feeds into your B.S. is as needy and idiotic as you are for trying to act single.

If I were to rent 16 movies a month at a video store I would not want to pay their price...even with the unlimited movie deals it is double what I pay NetFlix. Plus wasting time and gas driving there and back.NetFlix is one of the smartest businesses operating today. They will be back up an running soon.

Don't assume that your parents saw reality in China.I know 3 people that are here from China on work Visa's. 2 females and one male.All of them are nurses.They all want to be here in the States.The life they had in China was one of extreme hard work and limited options for decent housing,etc.These three people are so intelligent,intense,focused and driven to work to the point of exhaustion.Each woman left their child to come here and work so they could improve things for their family.They want to be American citizens and want their families here with them.Maybeyour folks saw the fantasy version of China.China is a rising star but they have room for improvements.Freedom of speech,religion,etc. is what most Chinese want too.That is why they migrate here.

Aug 8th 2008 2:06PM I am a psychiatric nurse.I have worked with a lot of seniors that were very dangerous. Easily confused and then instantly combative. Don't think they are incapable of harming others when they lose control because I have seen many maniacally strong,pissed off geriatrics who can kick some serious ass!Maybe this gent was having some cognitive problems from the high blood sugars and hypertension.They probably mistreated him and he may have lost control of his temper. It happens .....poor old guy. Leave the little old people alone and respect their dignity and help them....don't hurt them. (BUT stay out of their path when they blow because ya might get yer young dumb ass whooped!!!!!!)
