Puking in a Chicago taxicab may soon cost you $50 {Gadling}
Sep 26th 2009 5:30PM The quality of Chicago taxis has plummeted in recent years. There has been an influx of new drivers that don't know the city streets and are incapable of even basic courtesies. Many of the cabs are filthy and poorly maintained. Cabbies regularly drive while jibbering on cell phones, breaking traffic laws and endangering pedestrians. Solicitation is illegal in Chicago, but cabbies frequently pull to the curb and honk at passers-by in attempts to solicit rides. When confronted, tempers are quickly lost and fist-fights with passengers are common. The requested fare hikes (and puke charge) should be wholeheartedly shot down by the city council, at least until the taxi companies start delivering a higher standard of service appropriate to a premier American city like Chicago.
TSA considering allowing passengers to keep shoes on {Gadling}
Jul 30th 2009 1:29PM One crazy guy with a dud "shoe bomb" and the traveling public pays for it endlessly. Why is the shoe policy still in place? It is inefficient, unsanitary, annoying, and a complete waste of time. The same goes for the 3oz liquid in a Ziploc. What's the point? How does that keep the public safer? It's all just Bush-era stupidity.
TSA claims Disney souvenirs equal weapons - takes toys from an 8 year old {Gadling}
Jul 30th 2009 1:05PM On a recent trip through SFO, I witnessed a TSA agent being pointlessly rude and abusive to a flustered young couple traveling with a baby. When I got close, I asked him why he was so mean. He looked me in the eye and replied "Sh*t job, sh*t pay." I think this sums-up everything that is wrong with the TSA. These people do not make flying any safer, but they sure make it more painful. The real kicker is that if you confront a TSA agent about their blatant bad behavior, they have the power to ruin your whole day.
