Firestone nearly doubles previous tire recall {WalletPop}

Jul 1st 2009 7:22PM Well now, how many people are aware that we aren't eating meat (especially beef) raised in the USA anymore? Walmart and Winn Dixie stores have printed on the packaging (product of Mexico and/or Canada) BUT they don't tell you whether it came from Mexico or from Canada...you have to guess!! The only time you know you have purchased meat raised on USA soil is if it is printed somewhere on the packaging "product of USA". DO NOT BE MISLEAD by the USDA certified insignia....that only means that the meat contains a US Dept. of Agriculture stamp, not that it is a product of the USA. Winn Dixie is currently running what I would call deceptive ads, in that on one beef ad alone they have printed, USDA beef, USDA certified beef, etc. (then FROM THE BEEF PEOPLE AT WINN DIXIE), hoping everyone would think that it is a product of the USA when it certainly IS NOT.

Don't feel like paying off your credit-card debt? How about half? {WalletPop}

Jun 17th 2009 11:12AM Deadbeat or not, one thing to remember is that, yes, it is the credit card company's fault when they offered you a limit that they knew damned well you could not afford to make payments on....but...if you are in debt up to your ears (not because of losing your job) but because you have foolishly spent way more than you can afford, then it is your fault for making poor financial decisions!

Being unemployed and not able to keep up with paying your bills is one thing. Reckless spending is another.

It only takes a minute to figure what your interest rate is going to be on that room full of new furniture you bought at an interest rate of 24% , those upgraded stainless steel kitchen appliances you just had to have, and that closet full of ultra-expensive clothing that has saddled you with yet another 24% interest rate!

You can pick up the phone and make payment arrangements with credit card companies but don't expect a give-away. Everyone is going to have to make sacrifices until our economy turns around. The best way is to stop spending and start cutting back on things you have grown accoustomed to but can do without!

When Michelle Met Barack: Is There a Lesson For Single Women? {BV Black Spin}

Jun 16th 2009 10:01AM Please stop making comparisons of the President of the United States and his wife with movie stars and major entertainment figures! What is happening to this country's intelligence levels? This man is the President, not Brangelina for God's sake! Let's start treating him (and his wife) as such and with more respect...they don't need their pictures posted in every rag such as the National Inquirer every day...they don't give advice to the love lorn! Get a grip people!

Feds: Sears duped and spied on its customers online {WalletPop}

Jun 5th 2009 7:46AM Sears Holding Mangement Copr. was unapologetic and admitted to no wrongdoing?? I think heads should be rolling at SMC, arrests should be made, and prison terms served!! This just goes to show how we are being screwed by big business, insurance companies, AND our own government! The Federal Trade Commission should be at the top of their game and be investigating arresting all involved in the type of bullshit that is happening today but instead they are "sweeping it under the rug" or slapping wrists!

Newt Gingrich Nailin' Sarah Palin's Political Coffin Shut {Politics Daily}

Apr 20th 2009 12:37PM Eye of Newt, toe of frog, wool of bat, tongue of dog.
The sure-all cure for the Republican Party.

I think Newt is positioning himself for another run.

Whadda u think?

25 things vanishing in America, part 2: Maple syrup {WalletPop}

Apr 17th 2009 4:12PM I smell a rat here. I suspect the maple syrup industry has decided to take the same approach as the big oil companies, and make up any stupid excuse to hike the the cost of syrup and as the result, make a much heftier profit!

Anyone with a sugar maple tree can make their own maple syrup! The instructions are on the internet. Remember, you are only making syrup for your own family members, you are not supplying the world! It won't cost you an arm and a leg and it is fun to do!

Perhaps when people stop buying these products altogether, then the light will go off in their dimwitted heads and they will realize that their bright idea of price gouging was not so great after all !!

Wal-Mart expanding store brand line from household cleaners and Oreo substitutes {WalletPop}

Mar 18th 2009 5:40PM I have been cooking Walmart's Great Value brand of frozen chicken breasts for my dogs for almost two years now and haven't run into any problems as one reader posts above. If there were, I would stop buying it immediately.

My husband and I love Great Value brand family size Five-cheese Lasagna! I admit to "adding" a touch of dried oregano, as that is the only thing I find "lacking". However, there is much more sauce than on Prego's and there seems to be more of it!

As for some things, yes, I shop at Publix Supermarkets for the upscale items you can't find at Walmart, but overall they are truly a "money saver"!

Big trouble in Hong Kong: Disney all but abandons Hong Kong Disneyland {WalletPop}

Mar 18th 2009 4:05PM Why not let the Chinese piss on the flowers and bushes in Hong Kong?? They have been pissing on us us for the past 20 years!
