Jul 28th 2010 3:11PM First of all, I'm not "Cathy Cobb"-- just plain old "cath". And flying is NOT a privilege; being able to afford to do it these days is. It's a major pain in the behind~ can't carry on shampoo (bite me on the travel sizes- they last me one day); if you check your bag they hose you on the fee and you're taking your chances that your luggage will even be there at the other end. If you do carry on, some jerk sitting in the back puts his stuff in YOUR overhead bin (they need to assign overheads like they do seats.) You're crammed like sardines into a flying aluminum petri dish. Security is a joke-- I flew to Hartford out of O'Hare last week with half of a travel-sized toothpaste-- didn't bother to put it in a stupid zip-lock. No problem. Flying HOME, (with three-days LESS toothpaste) they ran my bag through the x-ray four times, until I told them to throw the tube out already. It was suggested that I check my bag instead-- greedy buggers. And how about the dimwits who, when they get to the head of the security line THEN realize that they have to empty their pockets, take off their shoes, etc. HELLO????? They cancel flights at will (if there are so many flights that are late or cancelled due to "mechanical issues", why does ANYbody have the guts to get on them? More likely not enough people to justify the cost.) Or, at the other end, over-book so much that there's always a couple of unfortunate souls that get bumped. Try and call the airlines to talk to a person and you get the hot-line to Bangladesh.
Alison-- took me a second before what I realized the "B" word is-- I wondered why a kid would be in jail for calling his girlfriend a Bee-yotch!

Jul 28th 2010 2:36PM Ugh- I would rather be sitting next to some kid watching 9/11 on a screen I can't see without my granny glasses than the woman I got stuck with who ACTUALLY changed her toddler's diarrhea-filled diaper on the tray table! I pushed that call button so fast- then I pushed hers. The flight attendant couldn't believe it, either!
Justin Luke-- I doubt they'd allow "South Park" shown-- remember the Academy Award nominated song "Blame Canada"? LOL.
KIDS~ if you are going to use all caps and call the people posting ideas you don't agree with "morons", can you please at least use proper grammar and spelling. Otherwise the only "moron" is YOU!

Jul 28th 2010 12:03AM I didn't read all of the responses, but it seemed that both sides had rational (and irrational!)arguments. I remember waiting to board a plane last year and CNN(the monitor was right above the ticket counter) was showing "new" footage of the collapse of the WTC-- somewhat disconcerting! At least the kid wasn't watching porn, which was my first thought when I read the headline. As long as he turned it off during take-off and landing, who cares??? I was more freaked out last Sunday when, flying from Hartford to Chicago, some woman's cell phone rang just as we were approaching the runway, and the moron answered it!! What an idiot.

Nov 3rd 2007 3:12PM Great-- we are flying from O'Hare to Heathrow in two weeks!!! I personally LOVE O-Hare- can't figure out what all the complaints are about. Maybe since I've traveled all over the world and have been in some pretty scary, disgusting places (like Miami!!!), and O'Hare is my home base, I'm prejudiced, but it embodies the excitement of travel and the comfort of returning home. GO BEARS!!!!
