Aug 23rd 2006 9:28AM Its funny to see how the government tries to use taxing things to solve there problems. Thats probably how they got into this mess in the first place. The people are starving because they can't afford to buy food. Sugar is not only used to make unhealthy foods like candy,cakes,soda, and pies. It is in alot of the foods that are not bad for you. If you tax sugar the price it costs you to buy food is going to go up and so is the number of starving people. Like ciggarettes taxing food is not to help people its so the government can make more money. Ciggarettes are taxed because people who are addicted to them need them and are willing to spend all their hard-earned cash to get a pack of ciggarettes. People need to eat to live so its not their choice to eat or not. If the government wants to help us from becoming obese maybe they should think about banning fast food commercials so people don't think "that looks good" when they see a big mac on tv.
