Dec 30th 2010 2:26PM All the info in the chart and article seems to be accurate. Unfortunately, real rate of return was not used. Real rate reflects the affect of inflation on the the money saved, and eats up a nice piece of the investment. Therefore, one would need to save more than is indicated, and if calculated correctly, could indicate that 75% of one's current income would have to be saved each year to yield a proper nest egg for retirement. All is related to time to save, amount of the nest egg, retirement spending, individual longevity after retirement, ROI, and inflation rates.
