Kenneth Robinson, $16 Squatter, Kicked Out of Upscale Home {AOL Real Estate}

Feb 7th 2012 4:18PM Well, leave it up to someone to find this "adverse possession" and mold it to their situation. I can't believe he'd been the first or last to attempt this and as night follows day - betcha Mortgage Lenders will ride shotgun on their Legislatures to have this little idea nipped right in the bud even if they need Shanghai 'em to do it. Long before the Congress comes to vote on the Debt Ceiling again - this will ride up the Agenda like mercury on a hot Atlanta morning. Nevermind what all else is important. I do think Mortgage Lenders have a new problem on their hands unlike any in the past. There are municipalities tearing down blighted (stripped of siding, wiring, plumbing, long grass, druggies, indigent squatting) properties in need of tending and Property Managment Co. aren't quite set up to handle all this yet. Abandoned properties are keeping values down or at least adding to declines. Same Cities are trying the "charge back" the Lenders for tearing the houses down (60 Minutes report said cost was $8-$12 thousand per demolition/clean-up) - but the Lenders are attempting to charge the foreclosed upon. Sounds like resident folks are going to end up (if not already) paying for this and don't know it - one way or another. Lenders and people are looking to Washington for answers and I'm not so sure this guy's ploy isn't forceing us to look anew at the question(s). FHA stats recently showed 1 in 5 homes are in danger of foreclosure. Are the "good" or "bad" items so far off from your neighborhood? Lenders will somehow get the Laws passed and put the costs (US saving reserves are low and market for housing is cool so this is gonna cost them plenty to sit on housing stock)- and "Shhhh! Here's a secret - hush-hush - they don't want to have to pay but they know they've used up alotta chits in DC!" They'll find a way certainly - but with little relief in sight - gearing up to disposses people - having paused over the Holidays - is running apace after getting their wrists slapped for "robo-signing", etc.. Now, getting their "ducks in a row" - the silence has been deafening - but the deluge is on the way - Betcha! An idea came up even before TARP re: Fannie & Freddie - but we'll see if it's brought up again.

Bernanke: Fed Should Help Turn Foreclosures Into Rentals {AOL Real Estate}

Jan 5th 2012 5:22PM rightthinker4 is correct. The rental market is BOOMING because of foreclosures. Add to what his post correctly states as problems the Section 8 housing (government sponsored) that will undoubtedly follow since rents are guaranteed. And then chuck into that (since the article didn't mention) the absentee homeowners (or banks) that are virtually unaware of ordnances and regulations in different areas of the same city along with other costs of managing a property (trash collection and recycle fees the city will slap on that "rental") and you'll come up CRAPS! Think there are sincere and "on top of it" property management firms that DO much of anything but sit back and wait for their percentage of the rent? HaHa-HeeHee! Jokes on you! Need a new hot water heater? How 'bout when the washing machine overflows? Roof leaking? Think the "overseers" of that property will get out of obeying the laws? Nope, like most landlords they're governed by the same 24-48-72 hour laws most landlords have to abide by. Yeah, I can see Bernake is WAY OUTTA TOUCH with the Rental Markets here in America. What? Last time he probably rented was at the Phi Sigma Delta House on Harvard's Campus. What happened to the idea of the "little bail out" proposed at the same time as TARP? Pay banks to take down the principle across the board - what ever percent. Lock in the rate - lower the mortgage payment and then - if need be work with the mortgagee further if property values remained low? $700 Billion left the Market in 2011 they said. Well, to stop the inevitable slide efficiently and surrounding properties - and going through various rental agreements and all the red tape - the Government, Banks and homeowners can work it out themselves. Where did THAT idea go wrong? Not enough for the Banks? They can't even mow the lawns on the properties they threw people out of. Pipes, electrical wiring and siding are being ripped off. WHO would buy those houses? Some cities are demolishing them and hopefully charging it back to the Mortgage Holder. Hear it costs $8-$12 thousand to tear down a house. So banks are already taking the hit. The Idiots. They'll be crying to Bernake again and he'll come up with - hey! - gee - an idea just like this stupid one! Maybe the denizens of Wall Street HAVE already read the tea leaves and foreseen this debacle for what it is. Just that they're so far removed from it - like the Fed - they came up with this "winner".

Tennessee Home Burns as Firefighters Watch {AOL Real Estate}

Dec 7th 2011 2:44PM "Insured"? "Outskirts of town"? So what insurance is it that only covers this house or that house? So a burning house - if not covered because of non-payment of a fee - would be a total loss for it's inhabitants? Hmmm. I don't beleive any insurance company would care to take on moral turpitude or lack thereof in a court of law based on a municipalities whims. Outskirts of town? Hmmmm. So, who taxes these people for property? Are they up to date on their property taxes at least? Does the mobile court they live in add it to their rent? "DIDN'T PAY FOR THEM"? - So a referendum was voted on by all community members - not only for this "fee", but also the change in the Charter of the fire fighters on which they then get licensed with for that municipality? What? Should there now be competing fire companies? Maybe so. Of course the Insurance companies would need be involved. Paying the "fee" - (oh, well, why don't we just call it what it is and cut the semantics?) - a new TAX - paying or NOT paying it would affect coverage on a house wouldn't it? Then their policies would need be changed to reflect this of course. Well, lively - did you hear about the tax/fee on the books about paying the police department and the Coroner? Seems you need pay to have that dead moldering body on your lawn processed and taken away. Too bad you missed that memo. That's OK though - you'll just need to pay penalties and late charges that obviously aren't covered in your property taxes - outskirts or not. Competing police officer departments - hmmm, what WILL they think of next? Legal or not - just keep paying and paying as they will keep coming and coming. Federal, State, Local - but they're "FEES" right? Not TAXES right?

Dec 7th 2011 2:10PM Uh, if property taxes don't pay for municiple services in Tenneesee, I'd be interested what they pay for and if that isn't delineated in the Law - I'd ask the People of that municipality to get it in writing now. I've seen people write on here denigrating the family for not paying the $75. Ahuh, so this "new revenue stream" was approved in a referendum? In many municipalities what one's property taxes pay for are listed. As should be. That an EXTRA tax is put upon them for such as this would hopefully have been reduced from their property tax liens and unincumbered from property tax payments. If not - then those paying are morons at best, idiots at least. That fire fighter personnel stood rapt watching the house burn is garish. Denying assistance was morally, ethically and unsamaritan like - but I would further express - illegal - given the Charter most are supposed to submit to be licensed. If insurance companies insist - they may then become the conduits for governments to collect these fees on behalf of their insured since they will most likely stop insuring properties in arrears. That the municiple buildings themselves haven't paid this $75 "extortion" would mean there need be an "exclusionary clause" or Eminent Salvage for Government. Would this be discriminatory? Depends on the declaration made by the State that no law be in conflict with State or Federal mandates. Certainly one that has not been voted upon. The City I live in - in it's search for "new revenue streams" has placed new charges and fines on it's people for non-compliance, and singled out segments of it's People for these - may as well call them what they truly are - TAXES. Fighting charges or fines it's clear these are nothing more than kangaroo courts taking the language of these tax laws and construing them to mean just about anything to take money from the populace. So please people - careful about these fees - or you may find yourself burdened by what you already paid for only it's been "budgeted" to someone's Cayman Island Fund. Afterall, who want's to find a dead body on their lawn with no one to take care of it because you haven't kept up with your police officer fee? Just WHAT does your property taxes pay for? Don't be a lamb baaa'ing at those who don't pay - find out just what the local government is doing with your money and why or even if they can. Chances are - they figure you won't look. They'd - in this case - probably be right.

Oscar de la Hoya: 'Addiction is going to be the hardest fight of my life' {Celestrellas}

Aug 31st 2011 7:07PM Good Luck Oscar! I hope time lessens the struggle - but it will never go away. You have a loving wife and children - KEEP AT IT! Automatically come to be able to say "No" - right off the bat - before you can even think of anything else if someone tries to offer you anything. Walk away - turn your back on them if they keep coming at you with drugs. Keep walking if you have to. Friends will understand - and those wanting you to "break training" aren't your real friends so who cares what they think? Keep hold of all that's important to you in life. Run to your family if you feel weak. Tell your wife, call your sponser, watch your children play. Cry if you have to - but do the math - it's never worth it. And don't think for a minute that you're somehow stronger than those who have gone before you. You're NOT! "Oh, I can have a beer and that's all." "I'll just do a line and that's all." HaHa! HeeHee! Who you foolin'? YOURSELF! You think you can simply control it because you know better now? Yeah, well, you wouldn't be the first. Before you do anything like that - REACH OUT! DO IT! Cause, he's waitin' for ya - you're the one who has to face the Devil for YOU. Grab onto LIFE and what's really important cause there will be a little voice that's calling to you and you alone. Listen to it -really HEAR it. Then DO what it tells you to. Get help THEN - at that precise moment. It will soon become second nature - but until then - break through the pain and reach out and hold onto that which will save you. Take yourself outta the reach of your druggie enablers - fire them - deny them access to you. Surround yourself with real friends and your family. Or you will go back. Yes,...you will. There will only be you. And you'll be all alone - just you. Sorry, sad and feeling sorry for yourself. You can blame whoever you want - but you'll be doing it alone. It will finally come to you - that you're the one to blame - but then you'll be all by yourself. You may have your drugs - but that's all you'll have. Just you. Enjoy!

Lindsay Lohan Guilty of 'Poor Judgement,' Not Probation Violation {PopEater}

Jun 23rd 2011 1:31PM I doubt that the color of the sky in her World matches what the rest of us see. Lock her up and lock her down. She's just a mess. Apply the law equally to all. (Especially spoiled crappy actresses that think if Liz and Marilyn can get away with it so can she) She simply doesn't have the chops.

Whitney Houston's Rep: Emphysema Story Is 'Completely Untrue' {PopEater}

Jun 2nd 2011 1:49PM It's really too bad. She had such a sweet melodius voice. She should've known though she couldn't pull one over on her audience. It's a travesty but she only has herself to blame. It may be a talented loss to the World, but it's all the more a shame it's a total loss to her. Emphysema doesn't kill all by itself but if she continues to smoke she will make it worse and will soon be in a wheelchair with an oxygen tank attached. That's her choice - no one else's.

'Barefoot' Backfire: Make-a-Wish Kid Turns Ina Down {PopEater}

Mar 31st 2011 10:43PM Sounds like Ina has spent too much time out there in the Hamptons with the snobs. I'm changing my channel.

Texas Cancer Center Receives $150 Million Gift From United Arab Emirates {Luxist}

Feb 21st 2011 4:10PM I think it's great that $150 million was given to the Univ. of Texas Anderson Cancer Center. To enhance their ability to fight cancer with this gift is the greatest gift a nation can give to one of our States. I hope the giving continues in hopes of success stories more often then not.
