On long-term travel, snobbery & judgmental blogging {Gadling}
Aug 13th 2010 12:18PM Very amusing to read all this...
& I'll just have 2 things to add:
Don't think that full time travel bloggers don't work.... writing e-books, doing SEO on the sites, marketing your blog etc. is a damn lot of work! It's just that he/she decided not to live in a 9-5 office job.
Coming to the 2nd point: Live & let live...
Easy as that. Everyone got their way of life, being happy or maybe even not. Funny how 2 posts gets so much attention. In the end it should be about traveling & that we all love to travel.
Galley Gossip: Attention All Nippon Airway passengers, please empty your bladders now! {Gadling}
Oct 7th 2009 12:28PM With these kind of things I always get the impression that companies try to save a lot of $ and publish it as beeing green.
But if it helps the environment.... ok. I would love to hear the messages in the boarding rooms:
"Bing.... Passenger Smith, please take your seat at the toilet."
"Bing.... Passengers of the flight ANA123 to XY, please get ready to board the toilet."
lol

The secret activities of The Ritz-Carlton - Poll {Gadling}
Sep 2nd 2009 12:27PM I guess that this is not typical, but I like it that way. Other companies make big advertising with selling a bottle of water and with each liter you buy, you help to build some springs in africa. That's cool of course, but they don't tell you the amount they donate. It was just made public with a big french company and it was really as good as nothing!
So it's nice to see a company spending more & keep it easy and calm with it.
A donation shouldn't be just for the bad conscience a manager might have...
But it's nice and fun to donate and even better to help others directly.

British theme park bans Speedos - to protect the children {Gadling}
Aug 11th 2009 1:27PM Yes, they shouldn't wear speedos! They should run around naked. That's would be a good solution for them. :)

Ryanair fumbles check-in, hundreds delayed {Gadling}
Aug 5th 2009 7:10AM I've never flown with Ryan Air, never ever recommended it to someone and I'll never fly Ryan Air in future and also won't recommend it in future!
I'm a travel agent and all the things you hear from them aren't the best... :(
I've heard that the pilots gets pressure not to loose time & if they does (even if it's a safety round in air), that they shouldn't do this kind of stuff again or they might loose their job...
Great Ryan Air! That's how it works! But not with me! :)
Greetings

Antarctic tourism to get safer, more environmentally friendly {Gadling}
Jul 22nd 2009 3:38PM Yes, you are right. It's important to have a change in the antartic travel. In the last years it got a really big boom to travel there. It's also still on my list (as the last continent to step on).
I also think it's a good chance to bring the problems closer to the people if it's done right. It would be nice if further generations would be able to see the Antartica, too. Friends had been there last year & I loved their pics and stories!
But it also worried me, when I saw a pic of a kind of tourist shop!
Many greetings
Melvin

List of World Heritage Sites grows by 13 {Gadling}
Jul 3rd 2009 1:03PM I'll go with your last point! -Forget the "1000 Places To See Before You Die" and just focus on these 890.-
Then you also don't have to buy that calendar to remember which one you still have to see... You'll just check the website.
I haven't seen a World Heritiage Site yet, which wasn't worth to visit!
Greetings
Melvin
