Jun 27th 2009 10:57AM Love this post! It was right on and funny to boot. You said all I wanted to say and thank you. I am also not ignorant to the fact that this city has major issues right now but you cannot find nicer people than Detroit and Metro areas. Very giving people who may be on hard times but will give what little they can to help total strangers. Have not seen this anywhere else. So much to do and see here and its surrounding areas.

Jun 27th 2009 10:33AM Kelso, do not feel sorry for me please! I have been to LA and it was very nice but I was only a tourist so do not know the "feel" of your city. I know the feel of mine and would not live anywhere else. My son stays in LA for months at a time for work and cannot wait to get back to Detroit. Also, I gather from your post, you have not been here in a very long time or have never been here. Do not believe all you read. Love my city, my state, my 4 seasons, yes..even the snow, love it all and right now the state needs help, not pity.

Jun 27th 2009 10:11AM Similar situation as Tony. Live right outside the city, work in the city, play in the city and no matter what the world thinks, it is my home, I love it here and this whole state and will never leave. Hey, I even like the snow!

Jun 27th 2009 9:58AM Oh come on AJ. You would take my home and use it as a nucleur dump site? A bit over the top I would say. I have lived here all my life and like any major city, we have our good areas and bad areas and are in a bind right now but I have never been a crime victim in Detroit (say what?) and enjoy my city very much. There is so much to see and do on a daily basis if you are so inclined, so much history and very nice areas and unless you count an occasional homeless person and eccentrics, I see not that many freaks either. I know I am not one. I have been all over and maybe am the only one in the world, but there is no place for me than Detroit and Michigan.

Jun 27th 2009 9:15AM Ahhhh, poor Detroit. I live right outside of the city and yes, it needs major help right now, I am not ignorant to that fact but that is beside the point. I love Detroit, the atmosphere..yes all of it...the attractions, the charm, a lot to do there and right across the border in Windsor, Canada also. Not sure where people who are horrified when they come here hang out, do they go straight to the bad areas or what? It would be like me going to NYC or Chicago and heading straight to the slums and judging those cities on only that. Every major city has seriously nasty areas but why go there unless you live there? I have been all over the country and amazingly to all...love when I get back home. I love Detroit, the awesome suburbs all around it and most of Michigan, especially up north. Cant beat it. No place like home, at least to me!
