Nov 25th 2010 5:37PM I am 63 yrs old raised 3 children worked full time most of my life, until I had a heart attack. Receive 700. per month from social security, which now for the past 2 yrs. there is no increase. I have 1 boy who is in a residence due to minimal brain damage. 1 son out of state who is losing his home and was laid off struggling. I am in the process of being evicted since I live in a 1 room apartment and can no longer afford 850. rent plus car insurance and basic needs. $101. in food stamps thats 20. a week for food. Not counting cable ,phone. There is a 10 to 15 yr. waiting list for any subsidized housing. I was born and raised here. I am way below poverty level, but aid goes to immigrants and foreign countries. i will be in the street soon and this WAS THE AMERICA I LOVED SHAME ON OUR GOVERNMENT FOR ALLOWING ITS PEOPLE TO LIVE LIKE A 3rd WORLD COUNTRY AND WORSE. SHAME ON OUR GOVERNMENT FOR NOT GIVING ITS SENIORS THEIR YEARLY INCREASE AND CUTTING OUR FOOD STAMPS, BUT MOST OF ALL SHAME ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FOR ALLOWING THIS ......STAND UP AND AMERICA WE ARE YOUR MOTHERS AND FATHERS ...

Apr 20th 2010 8:30AM I agree NY sucks I was born and raised there Im now 63 have been tortured by their system and authority. They r ALL corrupt escpecially the police force on up. IThe city workers have people sign in and out for them to get overtime plumbers, electricians hospital workers, its a joke theres no affordable housing and what should be available for disabled and seniors who live on $700 a month have a 10 to 15 yr wait if they dont die first. So sad that the immigrants get free housing in NY and rent their apts out and they live somewhere else, while the NY workers who are for real are suckered out paying for long lines and obnoxious cruel criminally minded people. GLAD I MOVED!!

Aug 26th 2009 8:31PM I have been homeless for 2 yrs. I am on disability after a heart attack in 2003 I lived on $600 a month as that is all they pay. I am and was unable to work due to the attack being massive. I have no family only a po box The rents were way over anything I could afford and still is. Shelters for homeless is 2 weeks then u have to leave. There is a 7 to 10 yr waiting list in NY but if your an immigrant u will get housing and all the benefits I was born in the USA and could only get food stamps. I lived in stairwells literally shaking Ive been to every housing authority in NY to no avail I am now 61 yrs old and still amazed that our country only caters to imports its disgraceful Americans should stand up for there own Im your sister ur mom etc I now get 700 per mo. and did work most of my life...Shame on our country!!!
