Simon Cowell never liked Katharine McPhee {AOL TV}
Feb 9th 2008 11:28AM I think you are misinterpreting Simon's remarks regarding McPhee. By saying that she will end up on Broadway does not denegrate Broadway and/or Broadway performers. He is merely saying that her "style" and "voice quality" are more suited for Broadway than that of a recording artist. I actualy agree with him and I happen to be a big fan of hers. At no point is he saying she has no talent.

Are kids getting brattier? {ParentDish}
Aug 20th 2006 10:47AM There is a saying that there are no bad dogs just bad owners. As far as kids are concerned I believe the same to be true. Kids are kids and therefor it is our RESPONSIBILITY as parents to teach and guide them. Kids "misbehaving" in restaurants however are not a result of how old the parents are. It is purely a result of of the adults that gave birth to them NOT being able to parent them. The skill or the ability of PARENTING together with RESPONSIBILITY unfortunately have been on the decline in our country for quite some time now. Children running around in restaurants and using load voices arent not necessarily "misbehaving", they are just doing what kids do naturally. BUT restaurants and other similar institutions where this problem exists are NOT playgrounds! They are social institutions where people (adults and children) can go and spend time together with other people and certain social behaviours are and should be expected to be adhered too when in such arenas. ENTER THE PARENT !! When the author of the above article says "I know that they are not fit for a number of public arenas" I hope that he/she realizes that in acknowledging that fact they are presented with the perfect opportunity to TEACH their children how to become fit for those very same arenas. Avoiding taking them or exposing them to these places teaches them NOTHING. At some point before they turn 18 they need to pick up these skills from someone. And that someone SHOULD be the parent!
I dont agree with the man that did not want to take a seat next to the family with a child BUT I dont blame him either because in my own experience I more often wished I had done the same than not. As far as preferring to eat next to a dog, it will depend on the manners of the dog. And as we in America still dont seem to GET IT when it comes to correcting the proper culprit and therefor making it pleasant for everyone else. Fearing offending the guilty party we would rather let it escalate and then put a blanket BAN so that EVERYONE looses out.
In plain words instead of telling the out of control child to shut up and sit still because their "parents" dont have the ability to do so, we rather say nothing and in the end just ban all children alltogether.
