Peyton Manning Skips 'Manning Day' to Play Round With Tiger Woods {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Mar 12th 2009 5:43PM Haven't read all of the comments, but I've put on events that featured celebrity appearances.

Was the golf event a pro-am tournament? If so, I suspect P. Manning and/ T. Woods were contracted and paid to be present.

Landing a Part-time Job {AOL Jobs}

Feb 23rd 2009 2:52PM A few years ago, I worked temporarily for Westat, a statistical research firm. In Spring of 2005/2006, I collected data from schools in various states all over the US, nearly all expenses paid, good hourly rate.

Just took a look--Westat has various temp positions available. If you're looking for long-term and don't mind a lot of travel, check out the NHANES project jobs at the bottom of the page.

Galley Gossip: The top five Skymall gifts for the frequent flier {Gadling}

Jun 27th 2008 2:58PM I was tempted to buy a Skyrest travel pillow for my beloved husband. He prefers to nap leaning forward when he's a passenger.

Note to self: Remember to request bulkhead seating to accomodate Hubby's long legs and my sciatica next trip.

Autistic child kicked off flight {Gadling}

Jun 26th 2008 3:28AM Reality check: If the police are called to help an airline deplane a passenger, that passenger WILL deplane, perhaps in handcuffs.

QUOTE
Plaintiff declined to leave the plane and was eventually arrested for trespass and disorderly conduct.

Autistic child kicked off flight {Gadling}

Jun 26th 2008 2:01AM I'm straddling this fence.

As a pilot's kid, I remember Daddy telling about having drunks deplaned before leaving the gate, let alone taking off. Twenty years later, I had reason to wish he was piloting a flight where a noisy drunk was sitting behind me.

As the aunt of an autistic 10-year-old, who has traveled by air all his life, I do not think that all autistics should be banned from air travel.

As a former airline reservationist, I think the airlines would appreciate a heads-up from the passenger on any special-needs case. The reservations agent can put a comment in the reservation that will alert ground and flight crews that the passenger or family might need bulkhead seating, help with boarding or assistance in an aircraft emergency.

Companies that vanished: Eastern Air Lines grounded by deregulation, union buster {BloggingStocks}

Jun 16th 2008 4:10PM Another ex-dependent here, daughter of the late Capt. Francis S. Lewis, EAL 1945--1979. I remember Daddy going to the deregulation hearings to speak AGAINST de-reg (in other words, FOR continued regulation).

Three cheers to the ex-EA posters! Hope some of you can participate in EARA or REPA gatherings. Wish there were a similar organization or associate memberships for us "airline brats".

When that first flight lifts off, hope I'll be there wearing Daddy's wings.

Galley Gossip: Should airlines restrict how much we pack? {Gadling}

Sorry...reservations-speak and pass-rider speak.

Galley Gossip: Stew Shoes (the search continues...) {Gadling}

Jun 13th 2008 5:30PM I'm puzzled about the gloves. Did a lot of traveling 2003--2006, DID see gloves used on a major carrier. I take it policies differ among the carriers?

Jun 13th 2008 5:19PM According to Wikipedia, this is a revival. What a cast!

QUOTE
A Broadway revival started previews on April 19, 2008 and opened on May 4, at the Longacre Theatre to good reviews.[1] Directed by Matthew Warchus, the cast features Christine Baranski as Bertha, Mark Rylance, reprising his role as Robert, Bradley Whitford as Bernard, Gina Gershon as Gabriella, Mary McCormack as Gretchen and Kathryn Hahn as Gloria [2].

The 2008 Broadway revival has been nominated for several Tony Awards including: best revival of a play, best leading actor (Mark Rylance), best featured actress (Mary McCormack), best director (Matthew Warchus), best costume design (Rob Howell), and best sound design (Simon Baker).[3] The production won the Drama Desk Award for outstanding revival of a play, and Mark Rylance won for lead actor in a play.[4]

The play has quite a history, summarized on the same web page.
