Jun 4th 2009 5:35PM The only reason GM was successful was because it was one of the only options. During WWII when we bombed the hell out of Europe and Asia all of their factories were obliterated. The American way of life was booming and population was expanding; people needed cars. There was no foreign competition so the American auto makers answered the publics demands. They couldn't roll cars off the assembly line fast enough. inspections were half assed and car were being sold with missing bolts. Nowadays, things have improved however I still think they take the assembly-line process a little too literally. The interior parts are way to similar it all of their cars and don't get me started about other components. Pick up a Consumer Reports Mag and learn yourself.
