How much have you paid for hotel internet access? {Gadling}
Apr 6th 2011 4:44PM I once paid $24.95 per 24/hours at a Marriott in Zurich. After paying for it the first day I found a Starbucks down the street that had free Wi-Fi. I refuse to pay for internet when staying at a hotel. Such a scam! What pisses me off is that the 4- and 5-star hotels are the biggest offenders too. Enough already. Spoke to a rep for a hotel chain and they said the reason their hotels continue to charge for internet is simple...people keep paying for it.
Ten things Gadling readers love about returning home {Gadling}
Sep 1st 2010 12:43PM I agree that as much as I love to travel, nothing beats that feeling when your taxi rolls up to your apartment or house and you walk inside to see a smiling face waiting for you. I am going on a trip in October for nearly a week and can honestly say that I am going to love returning home to my four month old baby boy and grabbing him for a big hug.

19 perfect dive bars {Gadling}
May 19th 2010 12:29AM Head out to Rockaway Beach and visit Blackwater Inn. Such a great dive that I grew up getting drunk in many nights.
Good jukebox.
No beer on tap (watch the pissed off face you get when you ask for one).
Place smells like the men's room.
Two doors to enter the bar, but only one works (other out of commission for easily a decade).
Also was the bar used in the indy film "No Looking Back" with Ed Burns, Bon Jovi and Lauren Holly.
Social Networking and Travel: Do's & Don'ts {Gadling}
Apr 21st 2010 5:45PM Matthew,
Definitely not going to use my iPhone unless it is in a free WiFi zone or at my hotel. I've read enough AT&T bill horror stories from people using their phone in a foreign land. I am trying to disconnect more and more when on the road, because I think too much technology ruins the true experience that is travel.
Social Networking and Travel: Do's & Don'ts {Gadling}
Apr 21st 2010 11:24AM Great tips Mike. I plan to leave the laptop home when I visit Paris in May. I will need my iPhone however for updates from home.
As for disconnecting foursquare updates from your twitter stream. I agree somewhat. While I loathe the site of constant updates from someone on every little thing they are doing, I do use my twitter with foursquare once maybe twice a day. I actually like to know what my friends are up to from time to time.
I barely check out foursquare's website, because I believe it is kind of lacking and I am on my tweetdeck app way more than my foursquare app when using my iPhone. I say if you do not want to disconnect your foursquare from twitter, at least use it gingerly (yes I used the word gingerly).
Daily Pampering: Beach resort just 30 miles from NYC {Gadling}
Apr 19th 2010 10:54PM Very cool hotel which I plan on checking out this summer. I was born and grew up the next town over and it is cool to see such a great hotel option in Long Beach.
A modest proposal: Let's ban large carry-ons altogether {Gadling}
Apr 19th 2010 11:03AM Great article George.
While I do not agree with the airlines being able to charge passengers for carry-on luggage, I do agree with your point that larger items been to be banned. I was on a flight from London to New York recently and some guy came on with his guitar case. It was huge and was not fitting into the overhead bin no matter how hard he tried to jam it in.
I try to carry-on luggage and skip the check-in process at all costs. Even before they were charging. I just liked the idea of grabbing my bag and getting out of the airport asap. My record is packing 11-days of clothes into one carry-on bag. I plan to break that record this summer.
Cheers,
Andrew
