May 29th 2009 8:02AM We went on a spontaneous camping trip with our good friends the Wrights this weekend. There's nothing like deciding at 1:30pm that you're going to go camping, packing, shopping, and leaving by 4:30pm. It was a little crazy getting out the door, but we had a great time! We just went to a nearby state park, but we were able to get a good campsite, roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, found lots of sticks and frogs, went "hiking", and wrapped it up by swimming in the lake. It was so fun and made us resolve to have many more camping trips in the future!

China has been a great experience. The students have seen firsthand that China is an emerging power in the world with a very large economy. It has been enlightening to see that China is modern and the city of Hangzhou has Bentley, Mercedes Benz, and Rolls Royce dealerships. China is surging ahead and this brings forth many issues, but the experience so far has been amazing and unforgettable.
If China could be described in one word it would be mysterious. It is in coming to China that you discover why it is the way it is. It is also in being here in China that an American will realize that China is more like America than many of us initially thought. It is beautiful here and the people are very friendly. The Chinese students particularly are very welcoming. Communication has been somewhat easy and in the worst case scenario - point to a picture of what you want to order.
