Product review - Kodak Zi6 pocket HD video camera {Gadling}
Oct 31st 2008 3:05PM Jim,
You hit the nail on the coffin. I've seen SO MANY non-pros buy "Top of the Line" cameras, just take photos to print them when all they needed was a 3 MegaPixel camera and Photoshop! The Under$200 is a GREAT bargain! $2000!?!? For that much, I expect FAR superior quality, but I'm not shooting a movie for production. The Canon 5 is an awesome camera, but for what I was looking for, the Zi6 is close to perfect - size, price and usability. Now only if it could levitate and follow me or my target. ;)
Product review - Kodak Zi6 pocket HD video camera {Gadling}
Oct 31st 2008 2:54PM This Kodak Zi6 is awesome for this time (Oct 3, 2008) and version one. It records GREAT! My only issues I have with the unit (casual consumers need not take this into account)
Pro
*Its easy to use
*Record, stop, then play instantly
*HD recording for less than $300
*Very Portable (its size could be a drawback later)
*Youtube direct upload!
*ANYONE can find a use for this Pocket Cam.
Cons
*No Video IN (to record from another video source)
*No Audio IN (to record another audio source)
*No Earphone Jack (for private listening)
*No Mic Jack (External Only) - for distinct sound
*Can't choose compression format (avi, mov, mpeg)
I can not edit MOV directly in Adobe Premiere Pro
*It does not indicate how much space (time you have left to record.
HD60 looks GREAT on the unit, but try to play it on a computer with 2GB of ram (or 156MB of video ram) and you're computer literally chokes on play back.
But for $200 + $30 (4GB MicroSD) this camera is youtube ready and you can record, upload and be on your way on your next adventure. The zoom feature is not good at all, but at the same time it is not terrible.
If anything, I could see this as a HOT Christmas Item (hence why I bought it so early) and looking for a v2 (IF Kodak listens and adds the features I seek). This would be great for family trips, trade shows, college students, sport moms and dads, business men and their meetings, travelers, video bloggers, extreme sports activists, video game players (to record their gaming and post on youtube for proof of high scores or crazy combos), landscape architects and more! If you have a tripod, even better! Radio Shack has a 30 Day Guarantee, if it interests you in the least, check it out.
This is NOT a pro camera, so all the negative sightings of 'This camera has bad lighting' are farce. I've used it in low light and I'm satisfied. If you want to record at night, bring a light or get a higher-end cam with nightvision.
I love my Kodak Zi6, I'll be posting a video of it (via my Nikon Digital camera) and such on youtube, check youtube.com search: warrengonline.
Samsung's Yepp YP-P2 touchscreen DAP with Bluetooth {Engadget}
Aug 15th 2007 4:27PM Forget the iPhone, forget the Zune, this is NOT a phone nor a Microsoft product!!! This is EXACTLY what I want - video, personal collection of my music (mp3, wma), my home videos (wmv) with a nice sized screen. Now with an integrated speaker and microphone, who can argue a point UNLESS the firmware crashes more than once in 30 minutes? The radio is nice, but what I want to hear is "It can record live radio.".
Now, give me a price and a place to buy one ASAP! It's 8GB, medium sized for me, more than enough space for a few songs, some video and oh wait a minute, by the video it also READS TEXT!!!! "Samsung deliver this to me and I will be forever grateful!"
My Sansa E260 is great, but the bluetooth and integrated speaker and document reading are features that put the Yepp 2 at the top of my list. I want one to test for crashing. Then praise this device in full force.
I can also ask for a expanded memory slot for more space added to unit, a/v out to my TV to play videos on it. (Yeh, I love electronics) Oh and price in the range of $120 to $225. My price would of course be $150.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for XBLA and PSN announced {Joystiq}
Apr 15th 2007 1:31PM Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix?
Ok, okay, being a Street Fighter fan since before it landed on SNES and I bought two copies, ones for $80 (Funco Land) and the other for $60 (KayBee Toys)....
Capcom needs to fix that dang lag on Xbox Live and make private rooms for up to 12 people. And tournament rooms up to 50 people. Dead or Alive does somethig similar.
Also, I would LOVE Street Fighter Alpha 3 released on XBox360 and on XBox Live to play people around the world! It would not hurt to also have an SNES-like joypad for the xbox360 or an adapter to allow you to connect your old SNES controller to the XBox360. The XFPS ($80) works with the PS2's controller, but will it work this an adapter for the SNES joypad? Hmmm...
Capcom, you have LOADS fo work! We love you for the past decade and more... Just get to work ad keep us happy. We aren't asking for anything fansy, just hardcore, yet easy to pick up. Example, stick with the same controls, but maybe chain them together for chain moves or make more manual combos that do more damage? Maybe 2 punch buttons to throw, maybe a punch + a kick button for a different type of throw/sweep?
Keep it fresh. Street Fighter 4 should be awesome! More air-cimbos, air-blocking, parrying, unblockable moves, background interaction, bonus levels = power ups in story mode, timeshift moves, better announcer no longer "You win" let's say the character "Chun Li wins". Even on the versus screen "Chun Li versus Ryu" would be nice.

Hands on with Sony's would-be UMPC killer, the UX180P {Engadget}
Aug 10th 2006 11:31AM This is a neat little device, though the price is a bit out of my league. I'm a Treo 600 user and I am quite happy with my now old device. The Palm Os is so much better (to me) compared to the Windows interface.
When everyon had that kissing bug virus years ago, windows system crashed and thank GOD I had dumped my Pocket PC when a few of my files were lost, mostly MS things.
My palm, while everyone lost their OutLook contacts, my computer was lost, but a quick format and reinstall, then a hotsync and voila! I'm up and running like nothing ever happened.
The palm os Palm Desktop rules in my book, I do not just use it for addresses, I use it for:
notes, recipes, game descriptions, codes, website urls, books I want to buy, html and flash codes (not compiled and editable).
Other Palm Os features include: video playback and mp3 playback.
True it is dated technology, but once your windows device crashes or COMPLETELY FAILS on you, you will appreciate Palm Os, though it is slowly being pushed out by jack-of-all-too-many-trades Windows.
That's my two cents. The PSP should be upgraded to the PSP2 and be VERY similar to the Muylo with a qwerty keyboard and THEN you gots me.
