Sep 5th 2009 12:20AM I wouldn't mind well-behaved quiet clean children or well-behaved quiet clean dogs in the grocery store, or anywhere else - it's the nasty unruly ones that ruin it for everyone. I love nice dogs and nice children, and I'm a huge dog lover.....but I don't enjoy hearing dogs bark or children screaming and crying anywhere or anytime! Can't people use some common sense and some balanced discipline for both children and dogs? I take my dogs as many places as I can, but here in the Winston-Salem, NC area, people are NOT very dog or people friendly! And I have two small chihuahuas, quiet, well behaved, friendly, and always on leashes or in a pet pocket. However, if I had to choose: dogs or children to shop alongside of...it would definitely be DOGS.

Jan 16th 2009 6:51PM How about ASK THE ELEPHANT? Someone needs to bring in an animal communicator and ask the elephant what he wants to do! He might just be used to where he is and want to stay there. He might want to be freer. He might be attached to his 24/7 caretakers and not want to leave them at this late point in his life. HOWEVER, I disagree with zoos!! I don't think animals should live in zoos, and I do believe that animals have rights and deserve to be consulted as to the life THEY want for themselves!

Dec 12th 2008 3:02PM I've been an Idol fan since season one, and while I loved the first Idol Gives Back, last years was HORRIBLE! It was poorly done, and was more about stupid comedians than about the Idols themselves which is why we all watched the show who watched it in the first place...not to see someone from Desperate Housewives do a bad rendition of Carrie Underwood's song!!! It was BORING and for that reason I didn't give money last year either, where in I did the first year they did it and I was very moved by it. Idol acts like they pay so much attention to their fans, but in the end, they don't listen to what we want! Most recent example: David Cook's album! I felt that was a real bait and switch...very dissapointed...not in him, but in the producers of his album. They weren't LISTENING to the FANS and what his fans wanted.

May 31st 2007 8:07PM why not spend a million to try and clear up some of the air pollution, rather than putting a million dollar bandaid treatment on the beautiful taj mahal!? It's trying to tell us something by turning yellow! we can see the effects on marble... just think of people's lungs!!

Aug 27th 2006 2:04PM We had one once for long trips, vacations, etc. Didn't use it on a daily basis, you idiots! He drove, I made coffee! Only when we were on stretches of roads where there are no Starbucks to be found.

Aug 27th 2006 1:59PM I had a car coffee maker once... but it didn't work well, and in fact, burned out my cigarette lighter!!! If this one works, I'm all for it! Who's to say the driver has to make the coffee? We had it for vacation, taking long trips when we couldn't find a Starbucks along the roadside! I made coffe,... he drove..... seemed perfect, if it had worked!

Aug 23rd 2006 11:01AM I have no proof for this comment, but I do think there is some additives in our foods, or maybe genetic altering in our foods, that are making us fat! I know lots of overweight people who are NOT overeating!!! I know for a fact I don't overeat, and I also DON'T EAT SUGAR, and I'm still about 10 lbs. over weight, and can't seem to keep it from continually going up!!! The only thing that helps is eating totally non-processed food! Do you know how difficult that is to find, and to maintain??? IT's not 'people'.... it's the 'stuff' in our foods. Taxation is not going to help that! Neither will more willpower!

Aug 15th 2006 11:19PM I've gained weight since moving to NC 8 years ago.... summer by summer, I gain a few pounds,.... it's TOO HOT AND HUMID here, and the air quality is soooo bad here in the triad, that I just can't exercise in the summers! I walk daily in the fall, winter and spring.. but once the heat comes in, and the haze ... I just feel like I'm smothering! Not to mention I hate to sweat... so , even the treadmill in the air conditioning goes untouched during the hot days. Then there's the Code ORange bad air days when I feel I'll suffocate even when watching tv, in the air conditioing! Can you say Global Warming? I don't see kids outside playing in this either... they're eating sugar and playing video games... it's too hot out there!
