Apr 24th 2013 3:18AM "Polish sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski started work on Crazy Horse in 1948 after being asked by Henry Standing Bear, who was chief of the Lakota at the time to create it. “My fellow chiefs and I would like the white man to know that the red man has great heroes, also,” Standing Bear said in 1939, according to the Crazy Horse Memorial website.
But Crazy Horse descendants feel the chief didn’t have the right to ask that such a thing be done. Elaine Quiver, a descendant of Crazy Horse, told Voice of America in 2003 that Lakota culture requires consensus among family members, but nobody asked his descendants.
"They don't respect our culture because we didn't give permission for someone to carve the sacred Black Hills where our burial grounds are," Quiver told Voice of America. "They were there for us to enjoy and they were there for us to pray. But it wasn't meant to be carved into images, which is very wrong for all of us. The more I think about it, the more it's a desecration of our Indian culture. Not just Crazy Horse, but all of us."

Now the time warner building completely blocks the sun from the shining on the entire entrance at Columbus Circle. I wonder if this new thing will throw a long shadow over the water and pathways on the south side? Why do we have laws? Oh yeah, so you and I can pay when we break them.

Nov 2nd 2011 4:43AM When they ask me if I have any liquids I always say no. I have had enough things confiscated at the airport. This frenzy has got to stop one day. I was doing a dj gig and had to fly with records. I was pulled aside and suspiciously, a tsa agent asked, What are those (dramatic pause) - records?" I responded, "Yes, (dramatic pause) - they are records. I was this woman would have to open my record bag for God knows what reason. As I moved to undo the strap she screamed, "DON'T TOUCH THIS!!!" I screamed back, "IF I DON'T TOUCH THAT YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO OPEN THE BAG!!!" It was just as dumb as crap. I had told her what exactly was in the bag. After it was opened, I took her on a tour of exactly what I'd told her she'd find. Now what was the point of that?
