Dec 16th 2010 3:19PM They missed the ones where a person is on their death bed (or close to it) and they have all this money that they want to give to you because there are no relatives, etc, etc, Just send them all your information and perhaps a little cash and you'll soon be living in a life of luxury. The first thing that they're going to do is steal your identify. The second thing is they're going to take the cash you send and you're never going to get a dime of that supposed inheirantance money. They even use FEDEX, UPS or Western Union as places where you can get y our money!! All of these scams seem to originate overseas and the majority seem to come from Africa.

Oct 31st 2010 4:20PM Suppose the purchaser is on vacation or otherwise traveling for business or pleasure. What then? When I've been confronted by cashiers that make, what I consider unreasonable demands, I ask for the store manager, get their name, and then ask for the exact mailing address and name of the company CEO. It's amazing what that can do in getting satisfaction. As far as fraud is concerned it's not the store that bears the brunt of the problem but the credit card company. If a card has been stolen or is lost the most you can lose is $50 and it won't even be that much if you report it to the issuing company.

Aug 19th 2010 2:48PM How about if we take your comments a few steps further. A lot of people believe hat all Mexicans (or latinos) coming over the border illegally, or otherwise, are drug mules. Singapore doesn't have any drug problems at all because if you're caught with any kind of illegal drugs on you, no matter how small, whether it's to sell or use, even if its the first time they execute you. There are no appeals and executions are swift. They obviously have no drug problems. And, there is no 4th amendment to prevent illegal searches or requiring probable cause, etc. If we did the same here in the USA we wouldn't have one either. What do you thik about that?

Aug 19th 2010 2:24PM I have a close friend who is decidedly latino, including a Spanish accent and latino appearance, who doesn't drive. He is a naturalized American citizen. Why should he have to show identification when the car he is riding in is stopped? Remember he isn't driving. If he is forced to carry identification why shouldn't every man, woman and child also have to carry ID? Are you really naive enough to think that some officers won't profile latino looking people?

Jun 22nd 2010 6:14PM I personnally believe that all these sales reps and their sales managers have dollar quotas that they have to fill. These folks know that they can twist your arm a little and no one will be the wiser and mot folks won't complain. As far as being overcharged for srvices that you don't want or that have been dropped there is a way to complain that will normally get results. First go to the store manager and explain the situation to him/her. If you don't get satisfaction there there are other avenues you can use. One is to write to top mangement of the company. Another is the Better Business Bureau. Still another is the Federal Trade Commisssion or the Federal Communications Commnission. Those last 2 almost always get a postiive resonse. Of course, if you have legal counsel you can always try that route, especially if you have pre=paid legal services. Still another way is to contact your local TV station. Many stations have a watchdog program that looks into cases of overcharging, fraud, etc. Good luck.

Jun 20th 2010 4:09PM I think the word "reference" is a bad choice of words here. I've been told that the only thing a former employer can say about you is your dates of service, your title and what you were paid. Anything else is a no-no. Normally on any application there is a requirement for you to list references (uasually 3). These are peole who know you and will attest to your abilities, cjharacter, etc. hpefully in a positive way. You need to know what these people will say about you beforehand, though.
