Jackson has no career and trying to stay relevent by disparaging groups she doesn't like. Why is having something on TV "shoving it down peoples throats"? No one tells anyone to watch it ...I could say the same if I watch the 700 club and ask why do the CHrisitians have to "shove their religion down my throat" ?

Mar 1st 2011 11:49AM The whole concept of TSA should be overhauled but probably won't be. With the GOP cost cutting by just looking at numbers on paper rather than impact of cuts, these sort of abuses will multiply. This is what will happen as more and more government jobs get outsourced. People may not want to hear it, but sometimes it costs money to do things right. You out source to a for profit company and they will hire the least expensive workers they can find and pay them as little as possible.
I think the problem with TSA is that these folks are not professionals....I'm not saying thay are unprofessional (although some clearly are) , but they seem to be no better than security guards one finds at the mall. Personally I think if we are serious about this the TSA should be an arm of local/state law enforcement professionsals. Yes, some cops go over theline, but for the most part they are trained professionals ...not low paid quickly trained workers.

Feb 28th 2011 10:38AM Franco is a good actor and Hathaway great personality, but to host the Oscars, I don't think so. Not that I think they did that bad a job...who am I to say one way or another. However, this show is about Hollywood and deserves I bit more "star" quality to it.
I think the first paragraph said it all...the producers were looking for a "younger and tech savvy audience". Serves them right , going again for ratings rather than putting on a good show. It's no differnt than those who book Superbowl acts and then wonder and are appalled when something goes inappropriate happens during the half time show or the singer goofs the national anthem. It's the producers of these shows that should be critised, not the performers.

Feb 20th 2011 9:24PM I think it's time you conservatives wake up ! You have all been duped, expecially the Tea Party people into thinking regulations and taxes on the wealthy kill jobs. What period of time is it that the GOP/Tea PArty hark back to as be great times for the country. The 1950s...you know what the marginal tax rate was then ? 90%! Today it is 33% and they scream if someone wants to raise it to 36%!
Do you really think that if regulations were removed from industry they would take that money saved and use it hire US workers ? Think again ...they'll use it to give to the shareholders and CEOs and continue to move jobs overseas ! Even last November the GOP voted AGAINST closing a tax loophole that rewards companies for moving jobs overseas.

Feb 17th 2011 11:41AM What the article neglects to mention is that the new Republican congress and their Tea Party folks are trying to undo the "doughnut hole" coverage that helps seniors. Further, their new budget and other plans they have will take billions out of Medicare. Why so many seniors voted for these people who will make their lives more difficlt is beyond me. Write your representative , especially if they are GOP, and tell them to keep their hands off Medicare and Social Security.

Chiropractic medicine is not recognized by the A.M.A. As such I wonder what the healthcare bill did to tighten up things that hurt his business. Figuring the AMA endorsed the healthcare bill , he might have been doing somethings he shouldn't have been doing or certain Medicare payments can't be made to Chiropractors anymore ??

Jan 6th 2011 2:59PM I feel the airlines are increasingly shooting themselves in the foot. On the one hand they cry when people don't fly and they when people do fly they can't handle the crowds !
They must be the only industry where nothing is their fault , it's always Air Traffic COntrol. By blaming ATC for delays or cancellations the airlines do not need to provide anything for the customer...and with their cutting back on capacity, good luck trying to reschedule.
The fees and increased fares are getting ridiculous. They are charging the same amount as when they used to give out something to eat and provide pillows but now do neither. On top of that you have the priveldge to pay $25 a bag to bring along luggage. FOr a family that adds about $200 round trip to the cost of the trip...and much more should you have decided to buy anything while away that puts the weight of the bag over 50 lbs.
No, I was a 100,000 mile flyer for many years but even I do not travel over the holidays becuase I refuse to pay the higher "holiday" fares they've instituted.
