Oct 20th 2012 8:48AM If you are concerned about the radiation from a backscatter scanner because you fly a lot, then stop flying, because every New York to LA flight is like having a chest x-ray and is about 50 times more radiation than the scan you passed through to get on the flight.
@ Edward: Skin cancers are caused by cumulative exposure to UV light, not x-rays . Every day, the people in Denver are getting the equivalent of one backscatter screening more in radiation than people living in New York city, because they are a mile high (above sea level) and are exposed to that much more cosmic radiation from space 24/7/365 and they don't have an epidemic of cancers in Denver compared to New York.
Feb 19th 2012 11:20AM The only thing bigger than the bathroom in this plane is the cracks in the wings.
Jan 24th 2012 1:57AM She is 100 year old and has abosultely no children, grandchildren, great grandchildren that can take her in for a year or two? Why is this always the government's problem?
Dec 9th 2011 11:11AM Now that I am probably going to get that payroll tax reduction of $1000, I think I am going to use it to book that retreat for 0.02 seconds.
Nov 9th 2011 10:07AM Another Joe the Plumber Republican. Any self-respecting OWS protestor would have just taken the stash.
Oct 30th 2011 6:56AM Maybe the OWS crowd should crash this place instead.
Jun 24th 2011 9:24AM She's still got a great body for her age, and with that name, she would be the most popular proctologist in Beverly Hills.
Mar 23rd 2010 5:13PM How can you call health insurance policies a "right" if you can force people to buy them? The first ammendment lets me freely speak out against my government or promote it, or to remain silent. I can worship the religion of my choice, or choose not to worship. I have the right to own a gun, or choose to not buy one. I have the right to refuse a search of my property without a valid warrant, or allow the search. I have the right to a trial by jury, or to waive that right. I have the right to not offer evidence in a trial that may incriminate me, or to confess. In every case, there is no government mandate that I do any of these things, nor can I be taxes, jailed, or in any way discriminated against.
But the "right" to own a health insurance policy is the only one that I am forced to exercise?
Mar 23rd 2010 5:08PM I feel sorry for anyone working in a small business with 60-70 employees that provides them health insurance. The day before the tax on companies over 50 employees kicks in for not providing health insurance, these companies will drop insurance coverage one second after they lay off all but 49 employees.
Nov 15th 2009 12:47PM Scalia's Catholic upbringing makes him much lore likely to find his personal beliefs coinicide with his originalist application of the Constitution. He is not imposing his beliefs in an attempt to override that of the founding fathers, but rather the founding fathers beliefs are simply reinforcing his own.
Why is it OK for Sotomayors to allow her experiences as a latina allowed to shape her opinions but not Sclalia's?
The "right" to an abortion flies in the face of the 14th amendment as it allows half the population a priviledge on the basis of their sex, and is a form of sexual discrimination. There isn't even a separate but equal right for men.
